Malia is predominately a lively resort where 'you name it, it has it'! It is a resort that has been well established over the past decade and has a lively atmosphere where people can party until the early hours down the road that leads to the beach. Or, you can just sit in a local taverna in the Old Town enjoying the local cuisine watching the world go by. The Old Town is full of taverna's and old village style houses which provide a relaxing holiday. The stretch of beach runs for over 5kms and is divided into six sections which are all lined with bars and restaurants. Glozanie Beach has a great choice of watersports and the Potomas Beach is popular with the locals.
Malia's old town is a maze of cobbled streets and medieval churches which are perfect to wander around. However for those that wish to explore the nearby area, Heraklion is just a 45 minute drive away where there is a Venetian harbour, fortress and lighthouse to explore. Additionally visitors can take boat trips from the harbour to nearby resorts.
Heraklion Airport is approximately 38 km away - transfer time about 45 minutes.
