Out and About
Although Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world, there is plenty going on, from outdoor activities, historical attractions and good old beach resorts.
The crystal clear waters and the fantastic climate make Malta great for diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and water-skiing. The islands are all separated by boat rides of less than 30 minutes so sailing is also popular and there are many tours and excursions available to visit them all.
The rich heritage of Malta can be seen in it's wealth of archaeological, architectural and artistic treasures which include the Megalithic temples which are over 1000 years older than Stonehenge, Roman Mosaics, Baroque churches and mighty fortifications. Malta's capital, Valletta is like one big museum and is a UNESCO world heritage site.
For those of you who remember Popeye and Olive Oyl, take a trip to Popeye Village which was the setting of the 1980 musical film. The higgledy-piggledy wooden village clings to the coast in Anchor Bay and provides interactive film workshops and a fun park for all to enjoy.
Other attractions include the Splash and Fun Water Park which includes various water slides, wave pool and lazy river and in addition there is an animation programme featuring all sorts of games, dancing and sports. Do come along to Malta's Premier Family water park for a day of fun for the whole family.
Another family day out is the Mediterraneo Marine Park which is home to a variety of marine species such as dolphins and sealions. There are also various other animals such as parrots, cockatoos, snakes, turtles, tortoises, lizards and a collection of insects so for something a little different is is certainly worth a visit.
