This village is immersed in a truly authentic Greek atmosphere and offers a choice of traditional tavernas and restaurants. The village is renown for being very green as it is built in an area of orange and lemon groves and its valley terrain makes it ideal for country walks. This resort is not for those seeking lively nightlife but instead wish to experience a peaceful village close to some historical sites.Read more about: Beaches | Nearby Attractions | Quick Facts | Fodele Reviews

|Fodele Beach Hotel|
Fodele is not really a resort. It is just a good hotel in a lovely location. There is a regular bus service to Heraklion, a large town. Alternatively you can walk a few km to the charming village of Fodele. For anything else, you would need to hire a car or join an organised trip. The beach is a bit rocky in places but perfectly adequate for a family holiday.

Fodele features one beach which is touristy with hotels and a few tavernas and is reached by car and the other is more unspoilt and can only be reached from the village where the water is sheltered and calm making it ideal for children.
For those wishing to visit more lively towns, the larger towns of Heraklion and Rethymnon are within easy reach. Fodele is the hometown of the artist El Greo and visitors should visit the El Greco House and Museum or the nearby ruins of Tilissos.
Heraklion Airport is approximately 33 km away - transfer time approx. 30 minutes.
