Algarve Hotels

Wherever you go, you will be surrounded by bright colours. From the golden sands, to the crystal clear waters, the clear blue skies, the vivid green grass, and the white-washed walls of the buildings in the Algarve's old towns.

There is plenty to do in the Algarve, from sampling the cultural towns, exploring the beautiful coastline and playing one of the many championship golf courses.

How Hot?

The Algarve has one of the best all year round climates in Europe with summer months commonly reaching temperatures between 77-86ºF.

If you're looking for a beach based holiday with plenty of sunbathing on the agenda then May to September are the ideal months to visit, for those wanting to enjoy outdoor activities, golf and sightseeing the remaining months would also suit. Short periods of rainfall can be expected generally between November and March.

Out and About

With it's sandy beaches, rocky coves and great golf courses, it is easy to see why the Algarve is one of Britain's favourite holiday destinations. There is plenty to do and with the all year round sunshine it is the ideal place to take part in the many outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, horse riding and the various watersports.

Although the Algarve is generally a family resort, certain resorts cater better for different types of holidaymaker such as Lagos which is perfect for couples, groups and singles who are looking to party and the country towns of Silves and Monchique which are ideally suited to those looking for a quiet holiday with some culture thrown in.

Silves is certainly the best place to experience the old Algarve as the town dates back to 1000BC and is home to the best preserved castle in the Algarve. There are also gothic monuments, ancient tombs and plenty of narrow, cobbled streets waiting to be explored.

Another interesting yet perhaps a little gruesome sight is the small chapel in Faro which is made from the bones of monks. It was started by a monk in the 14th Century and is really has to be seen to be believed.

There are plenty of places to go if you are looking for a fun filled family day out. There is Zoomarine in Guia which is a theme park inspired by marine life, featuring dolphin shows, different animal exhibitions, 4D cinema and aquariums. Another place to visit is Krazy World in Silves which has many attractions such as live shows, zoo, bouncy castle, swimming pool, mini golf and racing cars so definitely a great day out. On top of these fun parks, there are also many water parks to be found around the Algarve.

Out for Lunch!

Portuguese food is a fantastic variety of fish, shellfish, meat and game. Traditional home cooking is the way forward in Portugal with families using old recipes with a variety of spices and herbs. Food is taken very seriously in Portugal, there is no messing about with it!

Nearly all restaurants cook fresh food daily from whatever locally produced ingredients they have to hand. You can dine in a 5 star International dining room to a local pastry shop on the street corner. There is dining options and menus to suit all taste buds.
