Once a small fishing village, it now boasts an array of modern hotel complexes with a good selection of bars, restaurants, music bars and shops. However the nightlife is low-key and for those wishing more extensive nightlife then the lively hotspots of Malia and Hersonissos are just a short bus / taxi ride away. A great benefit of Kokkini Hani is the waterpark nearby (in the village of Anopolis) where you will find waterslides, artificial wave machines and children pools.Read more about: Beaches | Nearby Attractions | Quick Facts | Kokini Hani Reviews

Kokini Hani is only a small resort but near to other bigger resorts within walking distance or by bus to the larger resorts.

The resort is quite small but does have a few restaurants and shops. It appeared a little run down with the hotel next to ours closed down and derelict.

Kokini Hani was a delight, nice and quiet and no disturbing night-life! It had a good selection of tavernas, restaurants and cafe bars as well as several mini markets and a decent mid-sized supermarket in the centre. I can highly recommend Tzo both for food and drinks - and such proximity to Knossos beach, and had one of the best kleftiko's of my life at Ideal - just remember to order it 24hrs in advance! Great transport links to both the airport and into Heraklion, buses every 30 minutes, and only 1.80 euros each way.

The main beach is on the west side of the resort and offers 400 metres of soft sand which shelves gently into the sea. There are plenty of beach bars and restaurants and for those who wish to get out on the sea can choose between the watersports on offer. The beach can get busy during the peak season and weekends.
The capity of Heraklion is just a 20 minute bus ride away where visitors will find a wealth of restaurants and bars as well as many historical attractions including churches and the waterfront fortress. The Palace of Knossos is also within easy reach and a popular day trip for most visitors.
Heraklion Airport is approximately 15 km away - transfer time approx. 20 minutes.
