Holidays to Puerto Banus

Holidays to Puerto Banus

There’s a reason that Puerto Banus is known as Costa del Sol's ‘playground for the rich and wealthy’. Located just to the west of the centre of Marbella, Puerto Banus was designed with luxury in mind from the outset, being built as a luxury marina and shopping complex in 1970 by local property developer José Banús.
The melee of golden beaches with warm shallow water and Blue Flag status, beach clubs and bars galore, designer shops and restaurants all add to the high-end status this resort has earned. The buzzing nightlife here attracts plenty of glamour with popstars and reality TV stars in their sports cars and luxury yachts, so if people-watching is your bag - this is the place to be!

Beaches

If it’s sandy havens you love, there are three main beaches here to choose from - all offering something some variety. Offering the full Puerto Banus experience is Playa Nueva Andalucia which is where you’ll find the best beach bars. Besides the gorgeous sand and sea here, you’ll find plenty of glamour and glitz in this series of Blue Flag status beaches offering plenty to do, from watersports to sipping bubbly in a champagne bar.
With over 1km of fine golden sand, Playa Puerto Banús has also been awarded Blue Flag status and is the main beach for families. Being so calm and shallow with a welcomingly-warm temperature, the sea here is perfect for families, especially those with young children.
Accessible via a stylish wooden footbridge, Playa Rio Verde is just to the east of Puerto Banus. This is a slightly quieter beach than Playa Nueva Andalucia but still draws a crowd in peak season. You'll also find the remains of an ancient Roman Villa - the Rio Verde Roman Villa - nearby if you fancy checking out some of the local history.

Nightlife

Puerto Banus is home to some of the most exclusive venues in Marbella which has earned itself a reputation of being the place to go. You'll love a bit of dazzle here if a glamorous nightlife scene floats your boat (or yacht!). Whilst not exactly being sleepy by day, Puerto Banus most definitely comes alive at night. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, if you’re looking for an excuse to get your glad rags and highest heels on, you’ll find plenty of them here - you may even find yourself rubbing shoulders with a reality TV star or two on the dancefloor!

Most of the popular bars and clubs are along Calle Ribera, where you’ll find most clubs open until 6am - just in time for the sun to come up!

Food and Drink

If cheap and cheerful is your culinary quest, you’ll not find it here. Exclusive dining is the order of the day in Puerto Banus, where great quality food can be enjoyed whilst admiring the luxury yachts dotted before you in the Mediterranean. With most of them being located around the marina, Puerto Banus has a great selection of restaurants to choose from. Jack’s Smokehouse and Meksian are particularly popular, but whether it’s fine dining and gastro delights or local authentic Spanish cuisine you fancy, you’ll not be short of options.

Useful Information

Flights here take just under 3 hours from London and the currency is Euro. Don’t skimp on them though - you’ll want to live the high life while you’re here! Whilst English is spoken readily, the language here is Andalusian Spanish - a slightly different dialect to that of places such as Madrid.
