Very clean and tidy, very friendly people and taxi service was excellent and cheap. We were blessed with a block of eating places ten minutes away, but this could have been 2 minutes if Porlamar had a lower exit, which is already there but locked all the time. When we asked about it they said it was for security, but I am sure this could be overcome with a door that slammed locked all the time and had to have a key to open it.

Beaches
The wide, sweeping sandy beach is sheltered by the surrounding mountains and protected by the harbour walls, making it calm for swimming and popular with families. The beach is backed by a pleasant promenade which, in turn, is lined with cafes, bars, shops and supermarkets.
Things to Do
Inland of the resort, approx 1.5km from the Puerto Rico beach, you will find the Atlantida water park. Also nearby, is the beautiful white sand beach of Amadores, which is just a 1km walk along the coastal path or, you could go to the beautiful Anfi Tauro Golf Club (4km).
Out and About
Heading inland, behind the beach, there is a public swimming pool and pleasant parks with sitting areas and shady trees, mini golf courses, a sports centre, a children's adventure playground and amusement park, followed by the large Puerto Rico commercial centre, which is packed with bars, shops, supermarkets and restaurants.
Nearby Attractions
Kayaks, pedalos, banana boats, parascending and sailing are available at the beach, which has the Escala marina to one side and the Puerto Base harbour and marina to the other. Here you can choose to go on sunset sailing cruises, catamarans and glass bottom boats, dolphin and whale-spotting or sport fishing for marlin and tuna.
Ferries also run to the neighbouring harbours and marinas at Anfi del Mar, Arguineguin, Puerto Mogan and Las Meloneras.
Puerto Rico harbour is also the venue for the three day, annual deep sea fishing competition which takes place in July.
