Malaga is a very good destination either for a city break or longer, there is an excellent transport system, take the train to visit any of the coastal towns, go on a bus to the lovely village of Nerja, just over an hour away or take time to explore all that Malaga has to offer with its many museums, lovely gardens and great shopping, bars and restaurants. Go visit this great city - it will not disappoint.

Felt very welcome anywhere we went from eating out to venturing further afield on the train, Malaga is a fantastic place with first class locals who go out of their way to help and assist in anyway they can. Fantastic fresh food at all times, great value for money. Will definitely be returning in the near future, felt very safe and comfortable even late at night - has a great family feel and vibe even late at night, no drunken louts anywhere!

Beaches to die for and well maintained, cleaned every day. I have never been anywhere so clean and tidy the footpaths are spotless and ideal for anyone disabled or bad on walking; lots of ramps and lifts. Lots of restaurants in Malaga town and harbour area - could do with more near the beach and hotels.

Great place to stay with lots to see and do and, we were pleased to find, it is very Spanish. Highly recommended are the Picasso Museum, Alcazar (Fort) and Castillo (castle) - both involve a lot of climbing but have fantastic views. We walked up to the castle - about 25 min of very steep walking but then found there was a bus - no. 35! The old Town is great to wander around in and there are lots of really good restaurants, cafes and tapas bars - go up the side streets and just a little out of the main shopping street to get some really good deals. Also visit the excellent food Market. The beach is just a short walk from the marina; it is huge, with clean sand and some great bars nearby. You can get grilled sardines at the restaurants on the beach.

Although we had been to Malaga before, we found the new port development stunning with some great shops and eating places. We also enjoyed a fun trip on a boat round the harbour - the children loved it. Malaga is wheelchair friendly and we had a good stroll in the city. On this occasion we were visiting family so did not visit any of the excellent museums or galleries. We had a family meal in a child friendly Italian restaurant which catered well for our varied needs and was reasonably priced.

There is lots to see in Malaga but the sea shelves and so I personally didn't feel safe. There are lots of really good restaurants at all price ranges. Plenty of shopping at good prices. There is a good bus and train service to other places. We were there as the Feria began and that was very entertaining.

We only spent a couple of hours in Malaga as we were returning from our holiday trip to Seville area.

Beaches

Malaga beaches offer excellent facilities such as sun loungers for hire, water sports and children's play areas, conveniently backed by numerous shops, bars and restaurants for those beach essentials and refreshments. One of the most popular beaches is Playa de las Acacias which can get fairly crowded in the summer months, for a quieter spot head along the coast towards Benalmadena where there are smaller more secluded bays perfect for a day of relaxing in the sunshine.

Things to do

There is so much to see and do in and around Malaga. An absolute must when visiting Malaga is the Picasso Museum. The museum has a collection of over 200 fantastic pieces of the famous artists work on display. Other places on the to do list should definitely be the Alcazaba and Castillo de Gibralfaro, two of the most famous landmarks in Malaga which sit on top of a hill overlooking the city. The city has numerous well maintained and landscaped parks and gardens which are ideal for a leisurely afternoon stroll.

Malaga has a wealth of historic buildings, architecture and culture to explore. During the summer various cultural and musical festivals take place, be sure to check out what's going on when staying here.

Out and about

Malaga offers a fantastic array of restaurants from small traditional Spanish restaurants and tapas bars to fast food restaurants and those offering international cuisines. The main city centre has plenty of choice plus there is a wide range to choose from along the seafront. Malaga has a vibrant nightlife with a variety of bars and nightclubs open til the early hours.

Nearby attractions

Malaga is just a short drive from Costa del Sol's favourite tourist resorts which offer a wide range of entertainment venues, activities and fun. Why not head to Fuengirola to the amazing zoo or maybe have a fun family day out at the regions biggest water park in Torremolinos.
