Forget what you read in tabloids or see on tv shows, it's no different from your local town centre on a weekend. If you want to party then visit the strip, if you want it quieter bypass it, it's that simple. Loads of bars restaurants all over the place. Most holiday makers are couples or over 30s.

Marine land is a great place to visit but don't rely on the free bus turning up to take you back, we waited over an hour and it didn't turn up, so we caught a taxi and it only cost 8 euro but that's not really the point.

Palma is a great place to visit, many shops and local tapas bars, it's untouched in so many places making it special.

Katmandu House in Magaluf is a must, brilliant virtual video games and 6d cinema, and a visit inside the House is superb, also crazy golf, soft play and splash pools, it's best to buy a wristband though it worked out to be cheaper and unlimited.

Many bars to visit, we took our 12 and 3 year old so quite limited. Benny Hills was okay not really children friendly anymore and expensive; Jokers was okay, they've got 2 massive TV's outside, great for watching football on. The White Horse & Leo's Bar are also enjoyable

The beaches are very nice (apart from some people burying their fag ends) and I recommend a Beach Bar right at the end of Magaluf Beach it's got 2 outdoor pools and they serve beer in frozen glasses! The shops are endless but with a great selection of items, my daughter was very happy with the toys she purchased.

Lively and a great place for a group of friends to have a great time. Don't even bother with the mad strip but still plenty to do.

The hotel is situated in the quiet area of the resort - a good job as I would have hated to have stayed near to the "strip". The beach area is ok with a large sandy beach and plenty of bars and restaurants along the front and on the side streets. Palma Nova is only about 15 -20 mins walk from the hotel and seems to be a much better and more attractive resort for adults and families. The transfer from the airport can be a pain for whilst it's only approx 20 mins by car, the coach took 2 hours stopping at many hotels.

Nice and big sandy beach, good for kids too. However night time is very busy and noisy due to lot's of disco clubs around and shouting drunk people.

Beaches

The 900m stretch of beach offers fine sand and clear waters with a stylish promenade running from one end of the beach to the other. There is a good selection of shops, bar and restaurants along the promenade which is ideal if you want to take a break from the sun. There are plenty of watersports available at the beach including pedal boats, banana boating, water skiing and jet skiing. The beach can become very busy and noisy, especially in the summer months.

The beaches in Palma Nova, which is within walking distance, may be more suitable for those with small children as there is not so much going on and it's a little quieter.

Things to Do

There is certainly no shortage of activities in Magaluf and with such a range available, there is something for everyone. The House of Katmandu is an upside-down house that offers a host of games, puzzles and attractions for the whole family to enjoy. During the summer months, visitors can try their hand at karting which is a great alternative to lazing about on the beach.

The family-friendly daytime show 'Pirates' is well worth a visit. The live entertainment show will see artists dancing and performing some spectacular acrobatic routines. If you prefer, you could visit the adults only version in the evening. For a more sophisticated night out why not visit the Gran Casino Theatre which offers a Vegas-style dinner and cabaret.

If you prefer to keep cool, why not visit the nearby waterparks, the Aquapark and the Western Water Park which is a great day out for any thrill seeker. Boat trips are also popular, especially the dolphin watching trip which can be taken from most of the beaches in the area and allows adults and children to get up close to the dolphins. The Nemo submarine is also great and gives you the chance to see the island's unique marine life whilst staying dry. The trip lasts for almost 2 hours and includes refreshments, fish-feeding, a dive show and nearly an hour underwater in the submarine.

Out and About

The streets around the resort are full of shops that are open late and sell a variety of goods such as jewellery, alcohol and clothing. If it's designer shops you are looking for then take a trip to Palma. There is also a flea market and Farmers market held in Palma and various other markets held in the surrounding resorts.

The restaurants cater largely for the tourist and you will find many fast-food outlets and bars serving traditional British food but you will also find some Italian, Chinese, Indian and even Spanish restaurants so you should find something that tickles your fancy. There is certainly no shortage of bars and clubs in Magaluf so if it's a quiet night you are after then you have come to the wrong place. The many clubs in Magaluf are host to many different artists performing throughout the summer months so you may have to plan your visit carefully. There are many fiestas held throughout the year, from special Easter ceremonies to Christmas events.

Nearby Attractions

There are plenty of other things to do in the area and a trip to Magaluf is not complete without visiting Palma, Majorca's capital. Palma is dominated by the beautiful Cathedral and the large, modern harbour. The Cathedral is as beautiful inside as it is outside and well worth a closer look. The little streets of Palma are full of shops, bars and cafes so there is plenty to see with many opportunities for a little refreshment on the way. The best way to see Palma is probably to take a trip on the open top bus.

Right next to Magaluf is Palma Nova which offers three 18 hole mini golf courses and there is a full size 18 hole golf course in Portal Nous. Marineland is close by in Costa d'en Blanes and great for all the family. So whatever you enjoy doing, you will find it in or around Magaluf.
