The Arenal beach is wide with fine white sand which gently slopes into the sea. It's just 200-metres in length though it's actually a continuation from the neighbouring resort of Playa de Palma where the beach stretches for over 4 km. This whole length of beach has 15 Balnearios, which are small beach huts featuring a kiosk, toilets and showers.
Facilities are good with areas to hire sun-loungers and parasols, and there's a wide range of watersports at hand with pedalos, paragliding and banana-boat rides. The promenade behind the beach is traffic free and lined with a good selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
Things to do
Aqualand water park situated on the outskirts of El Arenal offers a variety of water attractions with adrenaline chutes, children's play-areas and a relaxing lazy river, ensuring a fun-day out for all ages.
The resort also features a Jurassic Park themed crazy golf course and with 54-holes to try out it's definitely worth visiting more than once.
The city of Palma is a must-see with winding streets, historical sites, museums, pavement cafes and chic boutique shops Palma has plenty of places to explore and relax. Some of its major attractions include the gothic La Seu Cathedral, the Palace de L'Almudaina and the Castell de Bellver.
Out and about
A long promenade links the neighbouring resorts of Playa de Palma and Ca'n Pastilla, a pleasant walk with palm trees providing a respite from the sun, alternatively a tourist mini-train runs between these resorts during the summer months.
For exploring beyond the resort, transport links from Arenal to Palma are good, there are regular buses and plenty of taxis available.
The Palma Aquarium is found just outside Palma between Ca'n Pastilla and Playa de Palma, combining education and fun it's suitable for all ages and is a great place to learn all about marine life and more. There are 25 aquariums home to a wide variety of Mediterranean species, a further 24 with tropical fish, and the deepest shark tank in Europe. Outside there's a play-area for children, Mediterranean and jungle gardens.
The Marineland which is located in the resort of Portal Nous around 16 km away is a popular attraction for families with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows include performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.
For an enjoyable day out take the train from Palma to picturesque Soller and enjoy the scenic journey while seated in vintage carriages, a pleasurable and popular tourist attraction. Once in Soller you can extend your trip onto Port de Soller, where a vintage tram connects with the arrival of the train.
