Out and About

The Costa Blanca is a popular choice for holidaymakers of all ages thanks to its long golden beaches, wide variety of land and water sports, entertainment and themed parks.

Benidorm in particular is home to several themed parks, including the Terra Mitica theme park, Terra Natura (a zoo) and Aqua Natura (a waterpark), Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar which features exotic birds and marine life, with dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows. Benidorm is also known for its night-time entertainment with many bars and clubs with shows for both families and adults only, also the Benidorm Palace offers cabaret shows and concerts.

For an interesting day out take a daytrip into the old town of Altea, with its blue domed church of Nuestra Senora de Consuelo, wander down the narrow, cobbled streets lined with many arts and crafts shops. Another must is the historical town and fortress of Guadalest (meaning the Eagles Nest), situated around 25km from Benidorm the fortress was carved out of a mountain top where you can enjoy wonderful views, browse the craft shops and try some tapas in one its cafes.

Just 15km from Benidorm is the natural beauty spot of 'Las Fuentes del Algar' (the Algar waterfalls), this is a great place for a picnic and enjoy a refreshing dip in one its freshwater pools (to get the most out of your visit it's worth taking some water shoes to help with the pebbly water bed).

If you're staying anywhere around Calpe it's hard to miss the Rock of Ifach, the 332 metre rock is a nature reserve and the largest single rock in the Mediterranean, a round walking trip takes about two hours.

Further north along the Costa Blanca coast is the town of Denia; Denia features an impressive 20km of fine sandy beaches and rocky coastline, castle ruins and a tree lined shopping street which is closed to traffic in the evenings, a great spot to people watch from one of the outside bars or ice cream parlours. From Denia it's possible to take the ferry to Ibiza (2hrs 30mins), Mallorca (5hrs 30mins) or Formentera (8 hours).

Out for Lunch!

From Torrevieja in the south to Denia in the north, the Costa Blanca has just about every cuisine available whether you're looking to enjoy seafood in the picturesque ports of Moraira and Javea or a burger in Benidorm, dine alfresco or dinner with a show; the Costa Blanca has it all.

Benidorm has around 300 restaurants, over 100 cafes and over 550 bars, meaning one thing good competition so low prices and high standards. Dinner and a show is popular here and there are several options around the resort with many offering adult entertainment only. For a more authentic feel visit Benidorm's Old Town, the maze of cobbled streets has inviting traditional restaurants or Tapas Alley found along the covered street of Santo Domingo.

The resort of Javea is split into three areas; Javea Pueblo (the old town), Javea Puerto (the port area), and Playa de Arenal (the main beach area). Wander round the narrow streets of Javea's old town and you'll find plenty of authentic Spanish restaurants and bars serving traditional paella and a great selection of tapas. The port area offers a great choice of alfresco restaurants offering a wonderful array of seafood and paellas served alongside standard international fare.

Lastly the 'Arenal', the strip which lies behind the Javea beach is popular for its modern bars and traditional restaurants serving a wide variety dishes catering for tourists. At the very end of this bay is a popular and well established English restaurant called Scallops, if you're looking for a cheap meal this is the place to go.
