Beaches

This stretch of coastline is lined with beaches, most of which are busy all year round. Playa Paraiso beach is man-made with golden sands; La Caleta beach has dark shingly sand but from here you can walk to the Blue Flag beach El Duque where the sand is soft and the waters clear. Next along the coast is the dark sands of Fanabe where there are plenty of water-sports on offer. Torviscas beach is popular with familes and Porto Colon beach is sheltered by the marina. Next to the marina you will find Iceberg, a floating obstacle course in a protected play area.

Things to Do

There is a great choice of boat trips leaving from the various harbours along the coast and you could go on a relaxing family cruise, whale watching, dolphin watching or even big game fishing.

The choice of water sports and beach activities is endless with surf schools, a kiteboarding school, PADI diving centres, jet bikes, water buggies, banana boats, fly fish, parasailing and wakeboarding.

For golf lovers there are 2 golf courses and, close to Golf Costa Adeje you will also find the Nexsport Club which is packed with sports and leisure facilities such as tennis courts, air conditioned swimming pools, a very well equipped fitness gym and umpteen fitness classes.

The Teide National Park dominates the centre of the island and is easily accessible. The park is obviously great for hikers but you can also take the cable car up to the top of Mount Teide.

Out and About

Beach bars and restaurants line the promenades and the streets behind the beaches are packed with shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs. Plaza del Duque (in El Duque) is the shopping centre for designer goods or for a more budget-friendly experience try the hypermarket and shops at the Gran Sur on the main TF-1 at Torviscas. There is also a 4 storey shopping complex at San Eugenio and a street market at Fanabe on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Nearby Attractions

There are 2 water parks; Aqualand which is well known for its dolphin shows and Siam Park which has a Thailand theme and water-slides and pools for all. Jungle Park is also in easy reach and is a wildlife park set in lush landscaping.
