Beaches

The beach at Costa del Silencio could be fairly described as smaller than a postage stamp but, the water around the rugged coastline is the prettiest of blues. There is also a small black sand beach at Las Galettas which is popular with surfers and body boarders.

Things to Do

The resort is home to the prestigious Tenerife Scuba Diving centre and well placed to enjoy the underwater treasures of the Montana Amarilla marine reserve. The centre offers an extensive range of on-site PADI certified courses with eLearning courses if you want a head start. The centre run guided shore dives, night dives and also has a dive boat in Las Galletas Marina.

If you follow the path up the side of the Montana Amarilla, you can walk around the top of the caldera for great views across Costa del Silencio and to San Miguel and Golf del Sur in the east. You can also follow the coastal path (although this route is a little rough in places) from the tiny beach at the foot of the Montana Amarilla to Las Galettas and where the sea isn%u2019t crashing into the rocks you might pass a few folk with a line cast into the azure blue waters.

From the San Miguel Marina (10km), on the outskirts of Golf del Sur, you can take an underwater adventure onboard the yellow submarine. In Golf del Sur itself, you have a choice of golf courses.

Out and About

There are 4 main commercial centres in the resort with the odd mini-market, bar and restaurant scattered in between.

You can walk into the neighbouring resort of Las Galletas in about 10 minutes which is known for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants located around the harbour. Alternatively, on the far side of Golf del Sur; the little fishing town of Los Abrigos is a great place to soak up the atmosphere around the harbour and has the best fresh fish restaurants.

Nearby Attractions

The beach at Los Cristianos (12km) is great for sunbathing, swimming and water sports. The beach lies next to the harbour from which you can go sailing, take fishing trips or catch the ferry to La Gomera. A big market is held here on Sundays.

The highly acclaimed Siam Park is great for adults or children and you can spend the whole day lazing around the wave pool, riding the lazy river and whizzing down the waterslides.

The exclusive village of Chayofa is approx 15km away and is home to a small Camel Park and the lovely Jungle Park wildlife park.
