Map of Tejina
Tejina is an inland town but it is only 3km (5 minutes drive) from the seaside resort of Bajamar. At Bajamar there is a small beach and 2 natural seawater pools where you can sunbathe and enjoy sheltered swimming.
Things to Do
Explore the Anaga mountains, stop for lunch at the mountain village of Taganana and see the hamlet of Chinamada with it's 'cave' houses built into the side of the mountain. There is a pathway which runs from Chinamada to the fishing village of Punta de Hilgado where you can enjoy a delicious fresh fish lunch.
The pretty town of Tegueste is almost linked to Tejina and is approx 2.5km (5 minutes drive). The church has a mountainous green ridge providing a scenic backdrop and a square edged with benches from which to enjoy the view. Saturday and Sunday mornings there is a farmers market providing a good opportunity to buy local wines and produce.
Out and About
Tejina is not the prettiest of towns but it still has a few plazas and a pretty little church. It's not really a tourist spot either but it does has every day shops, like supermarkets and chemist as well as a few cafe bars and restaurants.
The world heritage site of La Laguna (9.5km) is approx 15 minutes drive away. Stroll through the cobbled streets and relax in the charming plazas of this historic town.
The attractive city of Santa Cruz (20.5km) is a 20 minute drive away. Explore it's leafy streets, parks and gardens, relax in the plazas and browse the museums. Shop in the African Market and chill out by the lagoon pools in the Cesar Manrique designed Maritmo Parque.
Sunbathe on the long golden sands of Las Teresitas beach. Located just a few minutes drive (5km) from Santa Cruz, this picturesque beach is backed by palm trees and the Anaga Mountains. There is a large car park and bars and eateries in the adjoining village of San Andres. For your return journey, why not take the scenic route through the Anaga Mountains - it will take about an hour to get back to Tejina.
