Beaches

The main beach in the resort is Playa de las Galgas, which has golden sand with dotted palm trees providing some welcome shade. It is set back into a rocky bay and there are loungers and shades to hire.

There is a further beach which is quite stony, but right behind it there is the lido, Lago Paraiso. Overlooking the bay, this little oasis has spacious sun terraces, a restaurant and a large outdoor pool with a waterfall. Here you will also find a diving centre.

Things to Do

The picturesque town of Adeje (6km) is just 10 minutes drive inland and surrounded by views of the Teide National Park. High up in the old quarter, at the top of Calle Grande, you will find the old church, a children's playground surrounded by splendid murals, some pavement cafes and delightful sitting areas. The modern side of the town is quite a contrast and you can't fail to notice the minimalist style church overlooking the ocean, the colourful School of Music and the designer-style police station surrounded by a cactus garden. Here you will also find the big supermarkets, out-of-town retail outlets and a big Macdonalds restaurant. The Farmers Market usually has around 50 stalls and is held on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

There are 2 golf courses within 10 minutes drive. Golf Costa Adeje is an 18 hole championship course overlooking the ocean with a practice bunker, putting and chipping greens. Abama Golf is also an 18 hole course set in a beautifully landscaped terrain with lakes, waterfalls and thousands of palm trees. Forming part of the Abama Golf and Spa Resort there is also, of course, a Spa featuring an attractive hydrotherapy pool, Turkish hammam, Roman tepidarium, relaxation area with heated loungers, massage treatments rooms and a fitness gym.

Head out to Playa San Juan for a sundowner and supper at one of the excellent seafood restaurants or tapas bars located around the fishing harbour, behind the beach and by the pier.

Out and About

The main street in Playa Paraiso is lined with supermarkets, excursion and car hire offices, beach shops and cafe bars. However, most people tend to visit on an all-inclusive basis and take advantage of the social and dining amenities at their hotel.

Nearby Attractions

The beach resorts of the Costa Adeje are just 10 minutes drive away; relax on the blue flag beach at El Duque or hit the resort's designer boutiques at the Plaza del Duque. A couple of minutes further on will take you to the Puerto Colon Marina where the kids can play at the Iceberg (floating inflatable obstacle course) or you can choose from one of the many pleasure boat trips, diving safaris or big game fishing trips on offer.
