Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful, friendly, resort. Much quieter than many in Majorca. However being quiet doesn't mean that it doesn't have lots of restaurants and bars, many of which are exceptional. Long sandy beach, lovely walks along the beach and Pine Walk, which is a tree lined walk next to the sea. Pollensa town, a short bus ride away for 3 euros return is well worth a visit. The only reason I didn't select awesome is that that's not a word that Puerto Pollensa would want to be recognised as. This is laid back loveliness without trying to be something that it's not. It's also not that big so if you are looking for nightclubs or theme parks or theme bars it's not for you. It is simply a lovely place to spend a week or so, relaxing by the pool, on the beach, or walking through the town or surrounding areas. If that's what you want then it might be awesome for you!

Even though I was only there for a short break I did not get to sight see as such. The beach looked lovely and the resort is only about 45 minutes - an hour away from the airport. The only downside was the appalling transfer mess up that occurred on arrival.

The resort small and compact with a shallow beach which is ideal for small children. It does not attract ravers or badly behaved youths and is more sophisticated than some of the other resorts in Majorca. The Pine Walk is ideal for a stroll along the shoreline and the atmosphere is pleasantly calm and elegant. Most of the restaurants in the centre are along the promenade and face the beach. We tried several of them and found them all of a very good standard in terms of both food and service.

Quite a self contained holiday area with long sandy beaches, a marina and a very nice frontage with well kept restaurants and numerous places to sit along the way. The Pine Walk along the sea shore is an added bonus. Port de Pollensa is not for those seeking a lively club based holiday, but for a family and the more mature traveller it is an ideal location. Local buses run the short distance into Alcudia along the coast roads.
The area was quite popular with cyclists who stop off for breaks in the cafes along the front. There can be several groups of 10 or more but they add colour to the character and feel of the place. A very pleasant and restful holiday and we would certainly go back again.

A beautiful resort in the north of the island. Ideal for young families and those who do not want a lively night life. Excellent beaches with plenty of room for everyone. The local bus service is good and it is easy to get around the whole island using them, much cheaper than the organised coach tours. A good place to just relax with lots of places to eat or just have a drink.

Have been to this resort many times before and will probably keep going back, but avoid peak season if possible. The beaches are first class, safe and clean, very few high rise buildings so has a nice skyline with the mountains in the background, lots of very good restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets, the streets are litter free and overall the resort has a very safe feel about it. The locals make visitors very welcome and many remember you on return visits. Lovely place, don't go if you are looking for another Benidorm!

The beach

There are two beaches in Puerto de Pollensa one either side of the marina, Albercutx beach is narrow and runs for 2 km in front of the Pine Walk and the Pollensa beach starts at the south of the marina and stretches for some 4 km.

Both beaches are sandy with calm clear water, and offer good facilities with sun-loungers and umbrellas to hire, plenty of refreshment options close by and a wide variety of watersport activities including banana rides, jet-ski, pedal boats and kite surfing.

Things to do

Much of the entertainment is centred by the beach where a variety of watersports are available plus boat trips along the coastline. Puerto Pollensa is also home to Fantasy World, ideal for families with younger children looking for a respite from the sun in this air-conditioned indoor play centre with café.

Nature lovers and bird spotters will enjoy the S'Albufereta Natural Reserve in Pollensa Bay, this large area consists of marsh, lakes, riverside woodland and coastal ecosystems, and is packed with wildlife and many species of bird.

Out and about

Like many of Majorca's popular resorts Puerto de Pollensa was once a fishing village, and retaining its nautical origins now has a modern marina filled with yachts, around which a number of shopping options can be found and it%u2019s also the location of the weekly market which takes place every Wednesday.

Along the resorts promenade to the south of the marina and the Pine Walk which runs to the north offer a number of outdoor bars and restaurants, in fact throughout the resort you'll be spoilt for choice with the vast number of wining and dining options available. The resort offers a vibrant nightlife with plenty of lively bars and a couple of discos.

Nearby attractions

The old town of Pollensa is just 8 km inland from the port; one of the main reasons to visit this small and charming town is for the interesting historical buildings and the famous 365 Calvario Steps which lead to a hillside chapel, well worth the climb for the fantastic views.

The neighbouring resort of Alcudia offers plenty of attractions, families will love the Hidropark which offers pools, waterslides, mini-golf and much more, there is also the Laberinth Maze and a large karting track. Alcudia is also a city of historical interest with its Roman walls, a Roman theatre, a small Roman church and even a 19th century bull-ring.
