Soak up the winter sun in the Gambia, with virtually no chance of rain in March (or April) and around 10 hours a day of lovely sunshine. The Gambia has the most laidback atmosphere and is ideal for a totally relaxing beach holiday. Kololi is an established resort with plenty of good restaurants, lively bars and nightclubs and, of course, a great beach and, from here you can also stroll along to the quiet and wide sandy Bijilo Beach. For a quieter resort, Cape Point also has a fantastic beach where you can just chill out, seek shade under the palm trees or stroll into the nearby town of Bakau and observe traditional local life.

The Philippines are hot all year round but for the longest days with pretty much no chance of rain, March and April are the best choices. The Philippines comprises over 7000 islands and, on the island of Mindoro, surrounded by the clear South China Sea, you will find the excellent diving resort of Puerto Galera boasting over 30 coves and sandy beaches, backed by lush greenery. There are numerous diving centres in the area, beachfront restaurants and hotels for all budgets. Relax on the beach with a professional massage or have a game of volleyball by day and join in the parties at night. Water-sports including jet-skiing, surfing and sailing are the order of the day but, there are also hiking opportunities through the national parks, jungles and mountains.
Sri Lanka is a tropical island in the Indian Ocean, enjoying lovely hot weather all year round. On the West and South coasts, March (and February) enjoy long hours of sunshine and the least chance of rain. On the south west coast you have the capital city of Colombo where you can explore the bazaars of Pettah and picnic on Galle Face Green and, the fortified historical city of Galle, with several beach resorts in between. These include the famous beach resort of Bentota, the white sands of Ambalangoda, the coral reefs and marine sanctuary at Hikkaduwa, the fishing village of Negombo and the golden sands of Unawatuna. There are also a number of national parks and nature reserves in Sri Lanka with opportunities for safaris and hiking.
The Cayman Islands are warm all year round and March is a good time to visit for low humidity and little chance of rain. The 3 islands of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac that make up the Cayman Islands offer an air of exclusivity and pristine beaches surrounded by the calm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Grand Cayman is the largest island and home to the world famous Seven Mile Beach, the duty-free shopping capital of Georgetown and the beautiful Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. Nature trails, historic walking tours, snorkelling, fishing and golf are just some of the many activities available to you. The tiny natural and unspoiled island of Little Cayman is just one mile wide and has more than 50 dive sites. Cayman Brac is popular for caving as well as with divers, as it has 3 shipwrecks and, for everyone else, offers quiet beaches and dramatic scenery from sheer cliffs to beautiful tropical flowers. An ideal way to visit all the Cayman Islands could be on a Western Caribbean cruise, which would likely take in Jamaica too.
