Map of Kingston
The waterfront at Kingston is dominated by the harbour, but there are beaches nearby. Take a boat from Port Royal to the white sands of Lime Cay, a small uninhabited island just 2 miles south of the harbour. For a serviced beach and more activities, head for Fort Clarence and for fishing and swimming, try Hellshire Beach.
Things to Do
Kingston is the cultural capital of Jamaica and features many historic attractions, not least it's large natural harbour, all of which sits in the shelter of the Blue Mountains. Needless to say, there are plenty of sightseeing and leisure activities in and around the city to keep you occupied.
The Blue Mountains provide scenic driving around twisting roads and sharp bends, as well as plenty of cycling, walking and hiking trails; with the chance to visit coffee plantations and discover mountain villages. Leisure time within the city can be enjoyed at Emancipation Park which has relaxing gardens with water features and a jogging track. Just across from the park is a mini-amusement park for young children.
Popular visitor attractions within the city include Devon House and The Bob Marley Museum, which is located in the former home of Jamaica's musical legend. Devon House is a Georgian mansion set in 11 acres of landscaped grounds; browse the furnished rooms of this historic property and be sure to try the ice cream before you leave.
