We did all the parks at Disney and late October was busy, 30-90 minutes to wait. FP was a joke due to the restrictions on getting new ones until you have used all 3 up first. It's getting dearer to eat and drink there, $3 + tax for a bottle of water. They're doing a lot of work at MK outside the park which makes getting to the ferry or busses a nightmare with limited signage too. But over all we had a great time.

If a holiday to keep the kids entertained is what you're looking for - everybody knows that Disney is the place to go! There is endless things to see and do - you could never get bored at Disney.

The reason I have put 4 stars and not 5 is because there were just one or two things that disappointed us. My expectations for Disney/Orlando were so high, and I'd been wanting to go ever since I was 8 years old (now 32).

The queuing is never good! You can get fast pass which helps, but unless you book your rides 2 months in advance, you're unlikely to get a fast pass for the best rides. This was our first time - so I learnt a lot as we went along.

Since we booked the holiday, I'd been telling the kids about this amazing water slide at Blizzard Beach called Summit Plummet and we were all looking forward to it - however it was closed when we were there! I understand these things happen - it was just a slight disappointment. Luckily, the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon made up for it. Best wave pool I've ever been in.

Eating out in the parks is quite expensive, for a family of 4 (2 adults 2 older kids - 11 & 17) I would budget at least £250 per day for food alone (breakfast, snack lunch, dinner).

Overall - Disney is amazing - the little negative things I mentioned would not put me off going back. I would just advise that pre-planning and massive preparation is key for a Disney holiday. You can't just turn up and see what happens!

Free transport to all parks and airport return, Disney Springs is best at night with live music and so many eating places, from fish n chip shop takeaway to rainforest cafe etc. Must try desert in Ghardeli chocolate shop cafe. Parks are fab can't spend enough time there. Don't try to overdo Orlando, try Disney one year and Universal sea world Busch gardens the next. Shame thay Wet n Wild closes for good in December so try to get there before. Crazy as its still the best waterpark in Florida.

So much to do at hotel. Free buses to all parks. Disney Springs at night is fab, all lit up with live music, shopping and plenty of eating places. Staff so helpful and of course check in cases when leaving at Disney Springs if flying with virgin means you don't have to keep your cases all day.

Well worth every penny, nothing too much trouble to friendly helpful staff. So much to see and do, couldn't possibly do everything on one trip over 3 weeks, need to return again. Something for everyone, not just a theme park with rides, amazing array of flowers and plants, food and drink, amazing construction to be seen. People from all over the world in one place and not a single bit of trouble seen, definitely a place where family is encouraged to be together at any time of the day or night. Excellent. Plenty to do for free downtown Disney area, free boat rides, Disney boardwalk beach, free watch movies under the night sky, play games or sit in one of the beach swings. Free magicians and artists of all talents at night on the boardwalk. Lots of shops and a massive indoor arcade all free on entry with Disney ticket, ride a raft or drive a rocket, floors upon floors of entertainment, good for a wet day or just to cool down from the sun. Young or old, play or chill with a drink in one of the comfy chairs, you just have to go to believe the magic.

There are no real beaches in Disney but if it's just a bit of sand you want for the kids to make a sandcastle or for you to chill for a while then there are a few hotels with sandy beach type areas. If it's a real beach you want then there are plenty within an hour or so drive.

Things to do

Disney Springs is home to many shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and a cinema. La Nouba Cirque du Soleil is also situated in Disney Springs. Guests of all ages will be mesmerised by the amazing performances by the various artists.

Enjoy exploring the different lands and creatures of Disney's Animal Kingdom. This is the largest of the Disney theme parks and covers more than 500 acres so you can just imagine how much fun you can have here. There are over 1700 animals here and a great variety of shows and adventures for all to enjoy.

Take a trip behind the scenes at Disney's Hollywood Studios and watch the movies come to life. If you dare, ride on the Hollywood Tower of Terror or the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster or if you prefer you can enjoy one of the many shows such as Indiana Jones or Muppet Vision. After dinner at one of the many restaurants you can watch the fantastic light show which is just the perfect way to end your night.

Disney's Magic Kingdom is just full of magical attractions to suit the whole family. There is so much to see and do for little princes and princesses of all ages. From character greetings to beautiful princess makeovers, there is no end of fun and it is impossible to pack it into just one day.

Disney's Epcot combines the imagination and excitement of Future World with the various cultures in the countries that can be found round the World Showcase. World Showcase gives you a little taste of what it may be like in other countries and gives you the chance to try different foods and learn a little about different cultures.

The two Disney waterparks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are great fun and an ideal way to cool down. There are height restrictions on some of the water rides but there is still plenty for everyone to enjoy. These parks can get really busy so it is advisable to visit early on before it gets too busy and indeed too hot.

Disney has some great 18 hole golf courses such as Lake Buena Vista Golf Course and Magnolia Golf Course and If you do fancy a game of golf, it is always best to book ahead to avoid disappointment and if you are staying at one of the Disney Hotels, you may be entitled to a discount.

A fun alternative to an 18 hole game of golf is crazy golf. There are a couple of Disney courses, Disney's Winter Summerland Mini Golf and Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf and they can be great fun for all.

Disney is also home to ESPN Wide World of Sports where many teams train and compete in a variety of sports. There is also a restaurant and shop here so it is worth checking out what competitions may be on whilst you are in the area.

Out and About

Each of the Disney theme parks are full of a variety of shops where you can get a whole host of souvenirs, clothes, hand crafted goods and jewellery, a lot of it is Disney themed but you will find non Disney items too. Disney Springs also has lots of shops, many of which are American high street shops such as Fit2Run, Basin, Build-a-Dino and the Lego Store.

Many of the bars and restaurants in Disney are open late but if you have any energy left and want to party a little more then head over to the Boardwalk, where you can dance the night away at the Atlantic Dance Hall or visit the piano bar, Jellyrolls. The theme parks can be open quite late in summer so you may not always have the time or the energy for late night dancing.

There are many events and festivals that take place in Disney, such as the Disney Marathon Weekend in January, Epcot's International Flower and Garden Show which takes place in March to May and later in the year Epcot host their Food and Wine Festival. There are also extra events at Halloween and Christmas and of course extra special fireworks to celebrate Independence Day on 4th July.

Nearby Attractions

If you want a change from Disney, why not visit the two Universal Theme Parks which are approx 16km from the Lake Buena Vista area. Both parks provide plenty of thrills and excitement for all the family and there is also Citywalk which is full of restaurants, clubs and entertainment venues.

Seaworld is also close by and as well as the many animal exhibits, there are many rides for all the family and plenty of shows and other attractions.

For something a bit different, get up close to the alligators for a taste of the real Florida. As well as the various shows and attractions, Gatorland is home to one of the best zip lines in the USA. Soaring through the sky at a great height will give you some fantastic birds eye views.

Florida's Legoland is the largest Legoland park in the world and is approx 55km away. There are restaurants, shops and over 50 rides, shows and attractions. There is also a botanical gardens and a waterpark too.

NASA's launch headquarters, Kennedy Space Centre is just over an hour away and gives you the opportunity to tour launch areas, see giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators, meet a veteran astronaut and if you are lucky enough, view a launch.
