Nea Potidea is a picturesque village featuring an impressive bridge over the canal which connects Thermaikos with the Toronaios Gulf. This resort combines natural beauty with a great range of amenities as well as a long sandy beach. Many of the larger resort style hotels are situated along the coastline 2km north of the village.Read more about: Beaches | Nearby Attractions | Quick Facts | Nea Potidea Reviews

Not exactly the sandy beach idea but knew that before - there's a lot that could be done to the beach to improve it though and clean it up. Not obvious where the town is or what's available - we did get a taxi one night though.

Sadly Nea Porifera looks as if the economy situation has affected it very badly. Looks very run down, buildings and shops closed. Some restaurants on the seafront but hardly anyone about. <br /> Cross over the road from the hotel, walk down the lane, through the wetlands (which aren't wet) and there is a lovely beach with umbrellas and sunbeds for hire for the cost of a drink. The sea is clearer, calmer and warmer. Sometimes grilled sardines to be had.

Just 2km to the east of the town is a 5km stretch of sandy beach which is perfect for swimming or just lounging on a sun lounger.
A day trip to the city of Thessaloniki is just an hours drive away where there is a good choice of restaurants and shops as well as historical sights. Closer to the resort are the Caves of Petralona which are only 30 minutes away.
Macedonia (Thessaloniki) Airport is approximately 55km away - transfer time about 1 hour 10 minutes.
