Nea Moudania is a harbour town offering an authentic taste of Greece. There are plenty of places to eat, clubs and everyday amenities as well as a long sandy beach and surrounding countryside villages.

The town is the second largest in Haldikiki and features a large working harbour and several cultural attractions as well as the beach, nightlife, plenty of supermarkets and places to eat. It is more of a working town than a tourist town, so a good option to enjoy traditional Greek cuisine, and it is surrounded by pine forests and olive groves.

Beaches

The sandy beach is wide and stretches for approx 2km. The waters are clear and shallow and diving centres are available locally. Near the town, the beach front is lined with cafes with sun loungers and shades set out on the beach for customers.

Out and About

The town has a large fishing harbour, a marina and cultural attractions including museums, an ornate church and an open air theatre which hosts productions and concerts during the summer.

Supermarkets, pharmacies, ATM machines and banking are readily available and there is a plentiful choice of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as bars and a few late night clubs. For fresh fish restaurants, head towards the beach.

There are a few children's playgrounds with the main one being near the beach. The large and colourful outdoor market is held every Wednesday and is the largest in Haldikiki.

Nearby Attractions

There is a nice choice of boat trips available, the most popular being fishing, dolphin watching and the small ferries to the Sporades Islands. Not to be missed are the cruises around Mount Athos where you can see the impressive monasteries clinging to the rock face of the holy mountain.

Nea Moudania bus station is connected to many towns on the peninsular with regular service to Hadikiki and Thessaloniki.
