Ixia, Rhodes, Greece
Ixia is a purpose-built cosmopolitan resort situated 2 miles from Rhodes Town with a long shingle beach which is excellent for water sports. There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and discos in the resort as well as a good variety of activities during the day.
The beach at Ixia is a long and narrow pebble beach which lies next to the main road. Visitors can lounge on one of the sun loungers which are available to hire or make use of the watersports on offer.
Out and About
Many of the top hotels are located in this area and Ixia has a central shopping centre which is popular with those seeking souvenirs. Most daytime activities are based around the beach and the nightlife offers a good selection of bars and clubs. For those who like to eat out establishments range from typically Greek tavernas to fast food restaurants.
Rhodes Town is only 3km away and offers a wealth of Medieval charm and the Old Town is lined with cobbled streets and a maze of gift shops. For those who want to explore the surrounding area there are many historical sites to see including ancient Ialyssos ontop of Mount Filerimos where there are two temples, Butterfly Valley or alternatively there is a large choice of boat trips to neighbouring coves and nearby islands.
Rhodes Airport is approximately 13 km away - transfer time approx. 30 minutes.
