Estoril, Portugal

The trendy resort of Estoril is home to championship golf courses, some fantastic restaurants and a casino which is the largest in Europe. The beaches are great but can get quite busy in the summer months. Estoril is a good overall choice for a relaxing family holiday.

Owing to a Mediterranean type climate, the Estoril Coast has mild winters and an ideal summer temperature which never gets too hot. The autumn is ideal and is like a second spring. Estoril starts in Carcavelos, 15 kilometres from Lisbon, and stretches as far as Guincho, and strikes a harmonious blend between the delights of the land, and the enchantment of the sea.

Lovely clean sandy beaches. A promenade with lots of little bars and cafes and you are able to walk along here to the next fishing village of Cascai. Well worth a visit.

Estoril and Cascais are both a pleasant walk along the promenade, or if you wanted to, only one stop either way on the train. The train ride is only 40 minutes to Lisbon, for less than 5 euros return.
