Did not spend much time in Quarteira so cannot comment too much but it has some good Portuguese restaurants.

Quarteria is a little walking away from amenities but on a whole lovely place to be in if you don't mind taxis. Lidl, restaurants in close proximity.

The beach in Quarteira is a very long, sandy beach which stretches all the way to Faro, virtually uninterrupted. The beach is lined with palm trees and there is easy access at various points along the way for disabled access. There are many cafes and restaurants on the promenade which runs behind the beach and there is a car park too but it can get really busy as the day goes on so best to get there early.
There are plenty of watersports available in the area.
Things to Do
There are plenty of sporting activities in Quarteira to keep you occupied such as horse riding, tennis and yachting. There are also many golf courses close at hand so there is plenty to do should you wish to escape the beach for a few hours.
The marina here is very pretty and one of the best ways to explore Quarteira is to go on one of the many cruises and explore with the minimum of effort. For those who prefer staying on dry land, there is a road train which runs along the seafront every hour or so.
There are two main water parks in the resort, Atlantic Park and Aquashow. There are plenty of water rides and slides on offer and Aquashow offers crazy golf, mini racing track and exotic bird show. Atlantic Park is probably more suitable for smaller children whereas Aquashow has some more adventurous rides for bigger kids and adults.
Out and About
There are many restaurants in Quarteira, many of which specialize in fish dishes such as grilled sardines, fish stews and prawns. You will also find other restaurants serving a variety of cuisine such as French, Italian and international cuisine so you should find something you enjoy.
Nightlife here is fairly lively, with a good variety of pubs, music bars and clubs. There is a greater variety of bars and nightclubs in Vilamoura which is not too far away. There is also a casino in Vilamoura.
If you enjoy bargain hunting them visit the gypsy market every Wednesday. The market attracts visitors from all over the Algarve and will be sure to find a bargain. There is also a market selling local produce which is also worth a visit. There are various shops selling souvenirs and holiday essentials but if you want something specific then you are probably best to head to Vilamoura and check out the designer boutiques and shopping malls.
Zoo Marine in Guia is a very popular choice for families with children and is the highlight of many a holiday. Visitors will be able to see dolphins, sea lions, seals, tropical birds and various birds of prey. There is also an aquarium with exotic fish and sharks and there is a 4D cinema too so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.
Why not check out Portugal's largest water park, Slide and Splash which is situated between Lagos and Albufeira. There are loads of rides for all the family and a separate children's area for little ones so everyone is happy. There is a grassy area if you fancy a spot of sunbathing and there is a couple of restaurants and kiosk serving food and drink. Slide and Splash is a great day out for all the family and a great way to cool down.
The pretty seaside town of Albufeira is approx 30 minutes drive from Quarteira and has lots to see including Paderne Castle and the beautiful Blue Flag beach. A lovely, relaxing day out for all the family.
