I have been to most of the Greek Islands now and I can easily say this is the best one up to now. It has a fantastic coastline, lovely for anyone who enjoys a long walk or even a bike ride as there are numerous bike hire places and well worth the price. Great food, good selection of bars and restaurants. All in all, well worth a visit.

Kos town is full of bars and restaurants. Nice beaches and free sunbeds if you buy a drink at the bar. Plenty of trips available including boat trips to other islands and Turkey. Good bus service to other places. The old town is well worth a look.

What can I say? I totally fell in love with Kos Town. Beautiful harbour area lined with restaurants and not one British place did I see, which is good for me. Plenty of boat excursions. A must is the 3 island boat cruise, fantastic day out. We sailed with the Black Pearl ship - 20 euros or 25 euros with lunch. A great day out from 10am - 5.30pm and so cheap too. For a really traditional Greek taverna, try the Select Taverna, just off of the square through the old medieval gate adorned with flowers. Beautiful setting and beautiful food. Find out where the local bus terminus is and hop on a bus up to the mountain villages. Another good day out. Visit the old ruins and the Tree of Hippocrates, loads of photo opportunities in Kos Town. I will be back. but this time I will also include a stay on the island of Kalymnos which I discovered on the 3 island boat cruise.

Beaches

Kos Town has a small sandy and pebble beach which stretches in front of the medieval walls and is fringed with cafes and restaurants. Alternatively there is a larger beach just north of the harbour.

Out and About

Visitors will not be disappointed with all Kos Town has to offer. By day the beaches are crowded with people lounging on the beach or enjoy some of the watersports on offer and by night the restaurants are buzzing and the lively clubs are throbbing with clubbers. For those seeking history, a 15th century knights castle, roman baths and the Plane Tree of Hippocrates are all a must to see.

Nearby Attractions

For those who want to explore further afield visitiors can take a ferry from the harbour to the islands and resorts of Rhodes, Nisyros and Bodrum. Tingaki is nearby which hosts a lovely sandy beach which is easily accessible by local transport.

Quick Facts

Kos Airport is approximately 30 km away - transfer time approx. 40 minutes.
