Hotel situated in very good area. 10 minute walk from large shopping centre with a large supermarket. Taxis are cheap if you wish to wander from resort. Very nice beaches if you do not want to stay at the resort beach. Excellent restaurants at the new marina.

Stayed All Inclusive so didn't go out much, except to visit the Retro Pub just down the road. This is a sports bar where the owner speaks good English, serves good food and drink, and has several TV screens for sports fans. The marina is also worth a visit but is a little further away so worth taking a taxi. Taxis are very cheap but you need to haggle.

Hurghada has suffered as you would expect from the drop in the tourist industry, lots of scattered building sites with incomplete buildings. But all this in our minds did not detract from the beauty of this stunning Red Sea resort, a resort that offers a wealth of adventures on, and in the Red Sea as well as on land visiting local attractions.

It was a first time in Egypt and we will definitely be going back. A very special thanks to all that made our holiday so special.

Hurghada is like Marmite you either like it or you don't. You are going to find it very in, getting better value for your money. There are some fabulous hotels and you just need to do your research. There are some fabulous areas next to Hurghada with great beaches and snorkelling. There are a lot of hotels that have great water parks that you can use for free and have excellent facilities. It is best not choose to go around the Egyptian holidays as the hotels can be very full. We have no problems in going back there and will probably do so next year.

Only visited the marina but it was beautiful and not overly busy. Would definitely recommend for a night out. Getting a taxi was extremely stressful and the way they drive is a little bit scary but marina was only a ten minute drive. Very reasonably priced food and drink. Went quad biking which was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend it for a trip out, fantastic company and the guides were very helpful.

Plenty to do if willing to travel a little out of resort. Senzo Mall is expensive for branded products, cheaper back home. Beach is not particularly nice sand more like builders sand, gritty. Sea not as clear as in Sharm.

Only went to few nearby shops, have to be careful with being taken-in by child sellers. Don't need to spend too much time outside hotel, check prices of goods which are of low quality. People friendly and helpful, not much outside hotel for very young children.

Still a bit of a building site but what's been built is superb. It needs some much needed cash injection it seems to be trickling in, I can see the resort really taking off in the next few years; until then it's a bit dusty but still vibrant and full of fun.

Hurghada is a good resort to travel to if you are after sun, sea, sand and all for a smaller amount of money than other places. There is still a lot of work to get to the standard of what Sharm has to offer however I would recommend it.

We love Hurghada, the hustle and bustle of it, the locals are amazing and the marina is stunning. The local foods are amazing and very very cheap. We have done lots of excursions through Falcon Adventures which was cheap and all were amazing.

Out and about
Hurghada is not the small fishing village it once was, the city has grown rapidly developing into four distinctive areas; the old town (El Dahar) is in the northern part, around 3km south of this is Sakkala, where along the Sheraton Road are many hotels, shops and restaurants, further south is an area called El Kawser, which has a 1km long promenade lined with hotels, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. Lastly to the north of Hurghada is the coastal road known as the Golden Mile, named after its glorious sandy beaches there are a number of large resort hotels here.
Getting around Hurghada is still easy and cheap, with taxis plentiful and offering good value for money, ensure to agree on a total price before setting off.
The evening is a popular time for shopping in Hurghada, where the bazaars offer a wide range of souvenirs and local items such as decorative papyrus, fine cotton towels and linen, spices, gold and copperware. Don't forget to haggle.
There are numerous local and international, up-scale and fast-food eateries throughout the resort areas. The promenade is a great place for an evening stroll, a spot of shopping, dining out or enjoying a late night drink.
Things to do
Some of Hurghada's most beautiful sights are to be found under the sea, a variety of rare and colourful fish, coral reefs and aquatic gardens, make diving one of the most popular things to do here. These may also be observed through glass bottom boats, if diving isn't for you.
Other popular activities include a Jeep safari into the Sahara Desert; visiting a Bedouin village or the ancient monasteries of St Paul and St Anthony. Day trips or longer stays to view the amazing sights of Luxor and Cairo are also possible.
