The resort has lots of bars and restaurants to choose from and has many gift shops. The supermarkets stock most thing required for a self catering holiday at reasonable prices. We found the price of a meal with drinks cheaper than at home and there was live music on in a variety of bars most nights. Costa Teguise is quite windy and this is quite welcome when it is hot but can be chilly when the temperatures are lower.

Costa Teguise has a good feeling with pleasant walks along its sea front with nice clean beach, and small coves where you can enjoy swimming and many water sports, it's also reasonably flat and mobility friendly.

Holiday Date:8th Dec 2016

Costa Teguise has many restaurants/bars and miles of promenade and marked walking routes. There are a number of supervised beaches and various water sport facilities. I would recommend it for families and the older generation but teenagers and party animals would possibly be a little disappointed should they venture there.

Nice place to go if you just want to chill out. Nice walking areas if you don't mind a few hilly areas, beaches are lacking sand these days but are ok when the sun is shining. Plenty of bars and restaurants with reasonable prices, there is also a water park just out of town but it is closed in the winter months. The public transport is regular to get to Arricefe and you can get to other town from there.

I spent 14 nights H/B as a single traveller at the Hotel Vitalclass between 29 Nov and 9 Dec 2016, paying £565 with Sunshine, a price no other company bettered, as usual. For the price I paid, I have no complaints but I would not feel too happy if I'd paid over £900 closer to departure and far more (£1100 plus) with other providers. A/I seemed a costly upgrade and I feel I made the right choice (Read on). The plus points for this hotel are: 1. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff on Reception/Arrival/Departure. 2. Extremely spacious apartments (as opposed to pokey hotel rooms), with a proper kitchen and (absolutely unique in my experience), a full sized fridge freezer where you could store a full bag of ice cubes from the local supermarket. That said, I didn't cook in the apartment as the hotel restaurant was fabulous for breakfast and dinner. 3. Whilst WIFI was difficult to access initially, Reception helped me connect and I had free access for the whole holiday in Reception and in my room/on my patio - albeit, close to Reception. 4. I stayed H/B and found the food excellent. Sadly, I opted for the less health options for breakfast and dinner, but the health conscious such as the numerous cyclists and marathon runners staying in the hotel were catered for. 5. The hotel has a 25 m heated indoor pool and numerous spa treatments - didn't
sample any but then I'm male and elderly. Spa treatments were free during my stay, the indoor pool was 1.50 Euro per hour. 6. Hotel is within 10 minutes walking distance of the nearest supermarket for water, etc. 7. Second hand bookshop en route to nearest supermarket (see negative comments below). 8. Lots of sunbeds (very comfortable) and hotel policy outlawing Towel Reservations - mattresses and towels available pool side.

The Negative points are: 1. This is a cash - less hotel, even on A/I so guests have to produce plastic to register purchases and then pay on departure. I don't like this system, especially as I had to provide my credit card imprint on arrival including my security code. I'm monitoring my transactions for fraud. 2. I've been visiting the Canaries every year since 1977 and whilst in recent years, I've elected to stay in Costa Teguise, that was purely on cost grounds - that said, we all go here for the sun. Beaches

The sea front promenade, runs the entire length of Costa Teguise, passing each of the five beaches. Choose from the small bay at Playa del Ancla, the calmer waters at Playa Bastian, the main beach of Playa de las Cucheras and the white sand bays of Playa de los Charcos and Playa del Jabillo.

There are several windsurfing schools in Costa Teguise and a diving centre near Playa del Jabillo. Indeed, Playa de las Cucheras is one of the venues for the PWA Windsurfing World Championship qualifiers.

Things to Do

There is a concentration of bars and restaurants at the Pueblo Marinero, which has been designed in the style of a traditional Canarian village and is the venue for the Friday evening market. A couple of minutes walk back from the Pueblo Marinero is the El Trebol centre where you will find the mini golf and the fascinating Lanzarote Aquarium which has many colourful aquariums and a shark tunnel.

On the edge of the resort, heading inland towards Tahiche, you will come to the Costa Teguise Golf Resort. Costa Teguise Golf is an 18 hole par 72 course with a driving range, putting green, a golf shop and hire desk, paddle tennis courts, an academy and a clubhouse overlooking the countryside.

On the outskirts of Tahiche (6.5km) you can visit the lovely Cesar Manrique Foundation and stroll around the fascinating former home of Lanzarote's famous architect; admire the gardens and browse the art gallery.

Out and About

A little further inland you can visit the charming and timeless town of Teguise (13km). This historic town which dates back to the early 15th century was once the island's capital. In the centre of the town you can sit in the gardens or the town square in front of the Nuestro Senor de Guadelupe church, visit the house museum at the Palacio Spinola and take lunch at the Palacio de Marques, which is the island's oldest building. On Sunday mornings the town comes alive as locals and tourists flock to the large street market.

Cultural Interest

Next to the town of Teguise, you can't fail to notice the extinct Mount Guanapay, seated on the top of which is the 16th century Castillo de Santa Barbara, now housing an interesting museum.

Annual events held at Costa Teguise include the carnival which takes place around the beginning of March, the Brazillian Music Festival (June) and the Costa Music Festival (September).
