How Hot?
Puerto Vallarta enjoys a tropical climate with 280-310 days of sunshine a year and basically two seasons, the dry season and the rainy season.
The rainy season runs from June to mid-October, with the rain normally falling in short bursts, mainly late afternoon or at night. The days tend to be hot with temperatures ranging from 31ºC to 34ºC (88ºF to 93ºF).
The dry season runs from November till May, with cloudless skies and relatively no rain. Daytime temperatures range from 26ºC to 30ºC (78ºF to 85ºF) which can be very pleasant indeed.
Out and About
A trip to a traditional rural village such as Yelapa which is just outside Puerta Vallarta is a great way to experience genuine Mexican hospitality.
Whilst there, try to sample some local food and listen to a live mariachi performance. You may even be lucky enough to see one of the unique religious festivals that take place throughout the year.

Puerto Vallarta is second to Mexico city in being the country's food mecca. You can try all sort of foods whilst staying here. Some of the specialities include Grilled Mahi-Mahi, Ceviche which is raw fish, scallops or shrimps or Huachinango Sarandeado which is red snapper marinated in birria paste.
Trying local food is easy in Puerto Vallarta. There are plenty of Taco Stands all around. These serve tacos which are flat for you to fill with whatever filling you choose and either roll or fold it up to eat. You will also find Quesadillas and Burritos at certain stands. The down side to these stands is the hygiene as there is no running water, make sure you check it out first before purchasing food from them. The clean ones are easy to spot. You can also dine in high class restaurants which are scattered around the resort offering amazing and tasty foods.
