Nessebar is located on a small peninsula in the Black Sea which is linked with the land only by a long and narrow strip of land.
The beaches that line the new town are well serviced with ample opportunities for water-sports and boat trips.
Things to Do
Dating back to the Bronze Age, the tiny old part of town is almost an island, with quaint cobbled streets and a rich history. Admire historic architecture at every step, ranging from the Roman fortress walls and the medieval basilica to the many well preserved ancient churches and buildings from the 18th and 19th century Bulgarian Revival period. Historic and cultural attractions here are the Archaeological Museum, the Ethnographic Museum and the Byzantine Thermal Baths.
If you're looking for other things to do in Nessebar, you could spend a lazy day on a boat trip from Nessebar harbour, take the kids for some family fun at the water park Aqua Paradise or, try a spot of wine-tasting at the Hristis Winery in the town.
Out and About
Joined by a short road, lined with sea front walkways and marked by the symbolic windmill, the old and the new town offer quite different activities and atmospheres.
South Park provides a relaxing leisure attraction featuring sub-tropical plants, children's playgrounds, water features and well appointed observations points.
Nearby attractions include Lake Pomorie and the Salt Museum (19km), the picturesque resort of Sveti Vlas (10km) and the beach resort of Sunny Beach (3km).
