Milano Marittima offers kilometres of sandy beach with great facilities. There are different areas of the beach and you will be able to find a variety of beach sports, water sports, snack bars/cafes and entertainment for adults and children. You will also be able to rent sun loungers and umbrellas.
Things to Do
There is lots to do here but many people enjoy wandering through the pinewood paths until they reach the Natural Park. The park is home to rich wildlife and beautiful flora and is the perfect spot to relax.
Situated in the forest is CerviAvventura, an adventure park with treetop adventures such as rope bridges and ladders. This is a great way to spend an afternoon for both adults and children (height restrictions may apply).
Another great way to spend a few hours is a visit to the butterfly house. This air conditioned greenhouse reproduces the environment in the rainforest and is home to hundreds of living butterflies and many different species of insect.
There is also a golf club, tennis club and sailing club where many events are held throughout the year so hopefully your visit will coincide with one of these events.
Out and About
Milano Marittima is quite lively compared to some of its neighbouring villages and you will find a good mix of restaurants and bars. There are many bars situated along the beach and in the side streets so there are plenty of options.
There are a few nightclubs here, some of which are regularly frequented by entertainment and sports celebrities so keep your eyes peeled. There are other options which are a little more relaxed and casual but certainly something to suit everyone.
There is also a good choice of restaurants, whether you fancy one of the many fish dishes or a something more traditional, you will be sure to find it here.
Among the many shops, you will find souvenirs, jewellery, perfume and clothes for both adults and children. As well as a good variety of shops, you will also find various markets held throughout the week. Times and days will vary depending on the season so check it out before your make the trip.
There are various festivals held throughout the year too, such as the Chocolate Festival at the end of March. The best chocolate craftsman will make the most extraordinary creations for everyone to see and sample.
The four day event in early June, celebrates the mussels cultivated at sea. There are various stalls for mussel tasting and the local restaurants will also offer special mussel dishes.
The International Kite Festival in May/June is one for all the family. There are workshops to show you how to build and fly your kite and there are special night time shows where many many kites take to the skies.
If you fancy getting away for the day then why not visit Bologna which is just over an hour away. There are many beautiful churches and some fine dining to be had in Bologna so it certainly makes for a nice change. There are various other historic buildings and many squares which are great for just sitting and watching the world go by.
Ravenna is another place to visit and is a little closer than Bologna. There are also many beautiful buildings here which are worth visiting, many of which have beautiful mosaics, the best of which is in the Church of San Vitale.
One of Italy's most popular theme parks, Mirabilandia, is not far away and well worth a visit. There are various shows, attractions and rides for all the family to enjoy. Many of the rides will have height and age restrictions but there really is something for everyone.
