Beaches

There is no actual beach in Fethiye but a lot of the hotels have access to the sea for swimming.

The nearest beach is Calis Beach which is just 4km away. The beach here is very popular for kite surfing and windsurfing. Calis Beach is also a well known spot for watching the sunset. One of the most photographed beaches in the world, Olu Deniz is just 12km away from Fethiye. Olu Deniz offers beautiful sands and stunning turquoise waters with an amazing mountain backdrop. There are lots of watersports available from Olu Deniz beach and it has safe waters which is perfect for children swimming.

Things to Do

The clear waters around Fethiye make for perfect conditions for diving and exploring the many reefs, colourful marine life, sunken ruins and wrecks. There are also lots of boat trips available and perhaps the most popular one is the 12 island tour which explores the island with breaks for swimming and lunch.

The area is also popular with walkers and hikers who want to explore the pine covered hills. You can of course do some exploring on horseback or even on bicycle, either way there is lots to see.

If you fancy doing a spot of sightseeing, venture out to behind the town and you will see a Roman amphitheatre nestled into the rock and several impressive rock tombs.

Out and About

The lively marina is the focal point of the town and home to many fishing boats, motor cruisers and traditional wooden gulets. You can buy some fish off the fishermen and take it to one of the many waterfront restaurants to have it cooked. A lot of cafes and restaurants can be found behind the marina too.

There are plenty of shops scattered among the cobbled streets so if you are looking for something special or a little keepsake, I'm sure you will find it here. There is also a market every Tuesday which sells everything from fresh produce, meat, fish and traditional handicrafts such as lace and leather.

The resort comes alive at night with a good range of bars and some nightclubs for those wanting to party all night.

Nearby Attractions

For some beautiful views, amazing scenery and the chance to see many many butterflies, visit Butterfly Valley. The scenery is just fantastic and really well worth visiting.

There are many mud baths in the area, so why not treat your skin to a mud bath for a fun and relaxing experience.

There are 2 water parks close by, one at Ovacik and one at Calis Beach. The one at Ovacik is supposedly better but if you visit the Calis Beach one you have the perfect excuse to hang around and watch the beautiful sunset.
