The Dalaman region runs along the western end of the Turquoise Coast, from Kalkan to Turunc, including the beautiful bay of Marmaris, the lively and traditional town of Fethiye and the ever popular beach resort of Olu Deniz, famed for it's scenic Blue Lagoon.
This stretch of coast offers a string of beaches and beautiful bays with clear, blue bathing waters backed by pine covered rugged mountains, natural countryside and hillside villages.
The summers in the Dalaman region are long and dry whilst winters are short and cool. During the summer months temperatures can reach up to 95ºF (35ºC) in the peak summer months of July and August.
Sea temperatures range from November 61ºF (16ºC) to 70ºF (21ºC) in March; the summer months are a balmly 63ºF to 79ºF (17ºC-26ºC).

The Dalaman region offers all manner of experiences, from sunbathing to enjoying a number of watersports along its Turquoise Coast, family fun at one of the areas water parks, hot springs and mud baths for some pampering and a lively night scene in the resort of Marmaris.
There are many areas of natural, archaeological and historic interest around the Dalaman region such as the Lycian tombs near Dalyan, the breeding ground for Loggerhead turtles at Iztuzu beach, the Sultaniye thermal baths, and the beautiful blue lagoon at Olu Deniz.
Worthwhile things to do and daytrips to consider when visiting the Dalaman region, as well as those above include a cruise to Cleopatra Island, with its golden sandy beach and the ancient ruins of Cedrae; white-water rafting on the Dalaman River, paragliding over the Olu Deniz beach and a boat trip around the 12 Islands of Fethiye bay.

The cuisine in the Dalaman Region originates from traditional Ottoman dishes and is rich in fish, vegetables, anchovies and sardines. Common foods for the area include doner kebabs, rice with a small fish called Hamsili Pilav, kofte (Turkish meatballs), and Borek a flaky pastry stuffed with cheese, meat or potatoes.
There are many restaurants in the Dalaman region, many of which are family owned and provide fresh, home cooked food at a reasonable price. For traditional fast food, stop by one of the many Doner Kebab stands, or for those wanting a taste of home the area has seen the arrival of many of the western fast food chains.
