Beautiful resort - people so friendly, been going for 20 years. Plenty of restaurants - lovely boat trips. Only downside is the 2 hour transfer journey from Dalaman but well worth it!

We first went to Turunc in 1998 and have fell in love with it ever since. We have met special friends there with the locals and also holidaymakers with whom we see every time we arrive to this Jewel in the Med. We have just booked our ninth holiday here for May 2017, hope to see more friends in the future.

We found the resort very pretty and accessible. We were lucky enough to have a sea view from our balcony so were able to watch all the boats coming and going in the harbour with the star attraction every afternoon of the galleon pirate ship circling in the sea. The people were so helpful and friendly, we will definitely return to this resort. We have been visiting Turkey now for 23 years and stayed at various resorts, Hisaronu being the first one and we just fell in love with the country and people.

Turunc was pretty quiet this September but having said that, I was pleasantly surprised at the actual amount of British tourists there were. Atmosphere this year was not as vibrant, usually it is buzzing with activity, but that is only due to the present situation in Turkey.

Turunc is a small and friendly village with a good selection of shops and restaurants. It is ideal for all ages and traffic is limited through the main road of the village in the evening to make it more pedestrian friendly. Passed Marmaris and Icmeler, this is a smaller destination with a more intimate feel and no hassle. Our family has been visiting this small area of Turkey for 13 years and we hope to return soon.

I look on Turunc as my little bit of Turkish heaven. There are so many good restaurants if you want a change from hotel food. A small friendly beautiful place, quite quiet, but if you want the nightlife of Marmaris then just jump on a dolmus or water taxi. The boat trips are very good value and so relaxing.

Turunc is a small resort but has excellent restaurants and bars. If you are a football fan there are plenty of bars showing live games. I am a Man City fan and even though most bars were showing other games at the time I found City's game on at The Corner Bar. Worth taking taxi boat to Icemeler or Marmaris.

Turunc is a wonderful place. Fab weather, nice people and great food. This place is quiet with no loud music or night clubs, tranquil! There is no pressure to get you into shops or restaurants. All the restaurants are good but I must give credit to the Musti restaurant for being the cleanest place and thanks to the chef for cooking food for me that was not on the menu, he's a star! Would advise go self catering!

I was very disappointed with my holiday to Turunc. The resort where I was staying offered no social facilities and as it was isolated, you could only venture down into Turunc during day light. Turunc is only a small village - no tourist attractions and only a small gritty beach. There are a few souvenir shops and bars, but nothing of any interest.<br /> Boats can be taken from Turunc to other resorts but as the weather was not good at the time of my stay, I was not able to take advantage of this service. Not a resort for a 'single' person or people looking for an adventurous holiday.

Lovely resort, although I don't think 'resort' is the correct word to describe the place. I would describe the place as a 'Turkish Village by the sea'. I was restricted in my exploration of the resort due to suffering a serious ankle injury a few days before our holiday - so, I'll just have to re-visit!

The area is perfect with a gorgeous view, it is also close to the sea and nearby town. The ocean is perfect with its clear and clean waters. It was our first visit to this part of Turkey and Turunc was undoubtedly the best choice for us. Lots of good restaurants and a very pretty promenade and harbour. It was easy to visit the larger resorts of Icmeler and Marmaris by either water taxi or dolmus and although we enjoyed seeing these places, it was always a relief to return to the much quieter Turunc.

Small and friendly with some excellent restaurants. I would definitely recommend the Korfez and the Mermaid. Clean beaches and sea. The sun beds are free provided you by drinks at the restaurant opposite the area of the beach you are using. A few bars and gift shops along with 2 supermarkets, greengrocers and a chemist. I would also recommend the Koren travel agency for trips to Ephesus, Pammukale and Dalyan. The restaurants are very cheap and have wonderful seafood. If you are looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle then this is the resort for you.

It's one of the most laidback places I've ever been to. The bar and restaurant owners remembered both our names and even my profession after a 2 year gap. The weather is fantastic, the views spectacular. Turunc is a wonderful relaxing place, great food and great people.

Beaches

The Blue Flag beach at Turunc runs from the north end to the harbour at the south end. There are sunbeds available and at the south end there is a variety of bars and restaurants for drinks and snacks throughout the day.

The clear, calm seas make it perfect for a variety of watersports such as windsurfing, jet skiing, kite boarding and for those who like the more relaxed approach, pedalos.

Things to Do

There is a variety of archaeological sites in the area and you can see all sorts of things such as ancient burial tombs, Roman and Lycian amphitheatres and underground cities that have been carved out of volcanic rock, ideal for anyone who loves ancient history.

There are also many walking and hiking trails in the area so come and explore the wild rivers, meadows and waterfalls and enjoy the scenery. The trails to Amos Bay and Kumbuluk are particularly scenic with some amazing panoramic views and worth checking out.

Boat trips are also popular and will take you to secluded beaches, snorkelling reefs and ancient coastal villages. You may even be lucky enough to catch sight of some dolphins or flying fish. This really is a great way to explore the area and is also a fun, relaxing day out for all the family.

For the more adventurous, there is the jeep safari that speeds along the off-road trails to explore the coastal paths, ravines and forests. You will also see lots of wildlife and may be lucky enough to see eagles and wild boars.

For a quiet afternoon, visit the Tea Garden which is popular with both locals and tourists. It is situated on the main street, by the river bridge and provides a shady place to relax and enjoy some apple tea or local beer and grab a bite to eat while watching the world go by.

Out and About

There is a decent range of shops in Turunc which includes several mini markets, 2 bakeries, hairdressers and some gift shops for souvenirs to take home as a momento of your time in Turunc. The market comes to town every Monday and is situated close to the harbour. There are loads of stalls that offer a variety of goods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, honey, clothes, leather goods, towels and various ornaments.

There is a good selection of bars in Turunc and while none of them provide all night entertainment, you will find some with the odd quiz or perhaps karaoke whilst enjoying a late night drink.

There are plenty of restaurants and you will easily be able to dine somewhere different each night if you are here for 2 weeks. With such a variety, you will be able to find something to your taste and budget, whether it be traditional Turkish food or something more European.

Nearby Attractions

There is the famous mud baths of Dalyan which are about half an hours drive from Ovacik. Here you can wallow in the mud then wash it off in one of the hot springs. Not only is this very relaxing but it is also great for cleansing the skin and you do feel great after it. Some might prefer to visit a traditional Turkish Bath in one of the local hotels.

If you don't mind sitting on a bus for a few hours then you can visit the amazing Ephesus. The ancient city of Ephesus has so many monuments and relics such as an amphitheatre which was able to hold up to 24000 people at a time, the Hadrian Temple the library of Celsus and of course the Temple of Artemis which is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Although it is a good bit away it is a great day out and well worth seeing.

You could travel to Marmaris and take part in a horse safari, it's great fun and a great way to check out the beautiful landscape and surrounding environment.
