Icmeler Holidays Dalaman Region, Turkey
Situated on the southwest coast of Turkey, Icmeler enjoys a beautiful setting, in a sweeping bay, surrounded by pine-forested mountains, the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday. Icmeler is a beautiful resort neighbouring the lively resort of Marmaris. A good selection of bars and restaurants run the length of the beach. A great place for a relaxing holiday with the bright lights of Marmaris a mere 10 minute dolmus ride away. Great for families and couples. Transfer time approx 1hr 30 mins - 2 hours.
Beaches
The wide sand and shingle beach curves round the entire bay. There is plenty of shade provided by palm and eucalyptus trees and there is also a promenade that runs all the way to Marmaris which is approx 8km away. The promenade is lined with shops, bars and restaurants so if you need a drink or a snack there are plenty of options.
The beach is ideal for those who just want to relax in the sun all day but there is plenty of watersports available such as pedalos, banana boats, paragliding and snorkelling, for the more active.
Things to Do
The best way to see Icmeler is probably on foot and it takes just 15 minutes to walk from the centre of the resort to the old village. Take to the hills to explore and enjoy the scent of pines, jasmine and eucalyptus that all grow wild.
There are plenty of play parks dotted around the resort with the best one probably being close to the Prince Bar. Children will be able to enjoy the bouncy castle or hire little bikes and motorised cars which should certainly keep them entertained for a while.
Out and About
Wednesday is market day and you will be more than likely to grab a bargain, whether it be clothes, locally hand crafted goods or a holiday souvenir but if you want a better selection of shops then visit Marmaris which is only 8km away and offers over 200 shops.
It is always good to try one of the restaurants that is popular with the locals to get a true Turkish experience and many of them specialise in gozleme which is spinach and cheese stuffed crepes and ayran which is a Turkish yogurt drink. There are plenty other restaurants should you want something different.
Icmeler is quite lively at night and has a whole host of nightclubs and bars on offer so if it's a quiet drink or an all night party you are looking for then look no further. You could always venture into Marmaris which is a lot livelier Icmeler.
Nearby Attractions
A 10 minute bus ride will take you to Marmaris which is full of shops, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. There is an upmarket marina where you will find various restaurants and there is an Ottoman castle which is worth exploring. It is also possible to get a catamaran over to Rhodes Town which has loads of things to see, such as a Roman Amphitheatre and an acropolis.
Head to the Dalaman River for a spot of white water rafting, it's great fun and really gets the adrenaline pumping. There are professionals on hand to ensure you have a great time and enjoy the experience.
There are a couple of waterparks in Marmaris which is something for all the family to enjoy.
