Dubrovnik is a must visit location. The hotel was an easy 15-20 minute public bus journey from the old town wall with the bus stop about 50-100 metres from the hotel front door.

The place is so beautiful. The food not as good as Greek or Spanish and the rocky beaches are a bit of a let down but this was a wonderful place to visit. Very affordable. £40 for meal for 2 including alcohol.

Dubrovnik is a very beautiful old town. The walking game of thrones tour was great. I would also recommend walking the walls and there are plenty of stops along the way for a lovely cool drink. It takes about an hour if you keep walking though.

Dubrovnik is truly amazing. We walked the City Walls which is a must as you get to see a 360 view of the surroundings. We took our time and did it in around 4 hours as it was a very hot day! On another occasion we took the cable car up Srd Hill and it was certainly worth it. We went in the early evening so we could see the sunset and we treated ourselves to a meal in the Panorama Restaurant which was wonderful although a little on the expensive side compared to within the Old City. There are numerous places to eat and drink so you would never struggle to find somewhere that suits any budget. The atmosphere at night time is very vibrant and lively so it is nice to experience the Old City in both the day and nigh although it is best to try and avoid the Old City when the cruise liners are in as it can get very congested. It is a wonderful place and you will not be disappointed.

There is plenty to do and the walk around the walls is a must. Plenty of museums and restaurants and the people are very friendly. No need to learn Croatian as everyone seems to speak English! Saying that though it naturally goes down well if you say a few words in Croatian even if its only Hello and thank you. Good idea to get the Dubrovnik card it saves a lot on travel and the places of interest.

Lovely resort, especially amazing old town, such a experience but do not waste money going to island Lockrum, nothing there, saw one peacock and one rabbit. Just a track uneven path. Not much for kids in this resort. Bars are mostly eating places, but very nice and quiet, we were in the Lapad area, very nice, no beach as such, just pebbles, best to stay round pool area.

Dubrovnik is a beautiful city, full of history and has a cable car that gives amazing views of the old town. The are many restaurants to choose from and the buses run frequently. A very safe city as well. The cost of things to buy was very reasonable as well. I can really recommend the hotel and city to my fellow travellers.

Beautiful place and the walled city in the old town really does take your breath away, but I'm pleased we were a 15 minute bus ride away as very busy. Great at night and some lovely restaurants in the old town to choose to eat and a really good buzzing atmosphere. Unfortunately too many locals trying to get you to go on boat tours round the islands which gets a bit annoying, and there isn't a lot on the islands when you get there but it's cheap enough for a change.

Fascinating city to visit, similar in context to Valletta, Malta. Lots of cruise ship tourists. Fantastic cable car takes you to fort above the city with superb views and interesting insight to the Homeland war in 91/92 as they call it. You wouldn't really know today the city was devastated by war. Good day trips to Mostar available and historic sights en route.

Holiday Date:3rd May 2015

Our favourite things to do: 1: Walk the city walls. 2: Spend a day at Lokrum island - get the ferry, take a picnic, explore and swim. 3: Mount Srd - get the cable car to the top and enjoy the view (cable car ticket also includes entry to the war museum up there). 4: Offroad Buggy Safari - fast/fun, but also a good tour in which you'll get insight in to Dubrovnik and what it was like to live there during war. 5: Sea kayaking. 6: War Photo Limited. 7: The Stradun - explore the old town, it's main street and browse the souvenir shops. 8: Cave Bar More - quirky, with a great view. Also good for an evening drink. 9: Cafe Buza - great view.

Having recently been to Turkey twice (Alanya and Bodrum). To Cyprus (Protaris), Tunisia, Corfu, France and Germany I think this was the best foreign holiday we have had so far. The people are friendly and welcoming, fellow travellers were of all ages, many of them travelling alone. The scenery was stunning and ever changing. The food was good and prices were affordable. I cannot fault the travel arrangements provided by Sunshine.co.uk. We have never had a holiday run so smoothly. Thank you.

Holiday Date:27th Jul 2014
Accommodation:Dubrovnik Palace Hotel

Dubrovnik was a beautiful place, it's got loads of history and some amazing landscapes and buildings to explore. There were some fab restaurants - More, Marco Polo and Gil's to name a few and I would definitely recommend D'Vinos Wine Bar, Cave Bar and Buza for drinks (Buza does get busy though!). It has a lot of cobbles and steps so anyone with limited mobility take caution. City walls are a must do and if you like Game Of Thrones, there is a tour of filming locations, Anna at Viator is lovely. Cable car was great for view but disappointing due to the number of people in there, you couldn't see much on the way up or down. Lovely quaint shops selling local made souvenirs. I found prices in their entirety the same as home (UK - North East) although I had heard it was cheap. Probably depends where you come from. It's cheaper to use Kuna than Euro.

The old town is worth a look. Follow the path through the park, you'll see a restaurant on the right called the 'Komin', lovely food, great atmosphere, the staff are friendly, attentive and helpful, the food is excellent! The menu isn't huge, which is a good thing, it's all cooked on the grill. We ate here several times throughout our stay, the spicy sausages are fab, the slow cooked lamb is perfect, the steak is cooked to order and was juicy and tender, the chicken succulent and flavoursome and the sea bass perfection! Miho, thank you for the salads! The deserts are also fab, especially the chocolate souffle (although it's more like a fondant) which was delightful and had a nutty dimension to the coating. The local wine is strong but crisp and very palatable indeed. The prices are very reasonable, we paid around £50-£60 each time we visited for 3 courses, wine and bottled water.

We also ate at a nice little taverna called 'Ottos' down in Cruz Harbour. We ate there twice, the menu is small but the quality of food excellent! The steak and polenta wonderful, the confit leg of duck devine and the sea bass light and full of flavour on a bed of broad beans and fennel.

All in all we had a fantastic week in Croatia and would definitely return!

Great place to visit. Restaurants/bars on main street through Pile Gate slightly more expensive, similar to home prices, but in lanes behind you got just as good food and drink, if not better, at very good prices. Boat trips good to see different parts of Croatia. All Croatians very friendly people. A lot of steep stairs to walk up and down round the Old Town. Cable car worth doing as views are spectacular. We took cable car up and walked back down. Path for walk down was very rough with a lot of rocks and stones which made it hard to walk on but it was enjoyable to do. You can't visit Dubrovnik and not walk the walls, people selling water on the walls which was good.

Dubrovnick is a city of culture and history. The experience and views from the city walls are breathtakingly beautiful. Lots of sightseeing opportunities either, walking, hiring a car, taking a bus or a boat trip. I don't think it is a place for families especially young children because to my knowledge there are no theme/waterparks or sandy beaches. The beaches are small shingle type stones or rocky. Dining out was as expensive as a meal in the UK for example a steak average price was approximately £20. The majority of shops were souvenir ones with the odd shoe shop. In the shoe shops there were brands you can buy at home for the same price I went sight seeing quite a lot and never came across any chain stores. Having got back I am now telling friends and family to consider going because like I said earlier if you like sight seeing with history and culture than I can highly recommend Dubrovnik.

Had a fantastic holiday in Dubrovnik with my 6 month old. Locals were very friendly. Day trip to Montenegro and Mostar was great. Enjoyed the city walls, although difficult with an infant. Did the 3 island cruise which was OK. Weather in late Sept was great (around 24 degrees), although it rained one day but that was fine. Food was OK. Lots of seafood but not much vegetarian option. Lots to see and do. Would love to come back. However, Dubrovnik is slightly expensive.

Dubrovnik really is a lovely place with it's fair share of history. Some might find it boring but for us, it was a nice, relaxing holiday. If we were going any longer than 7 nights we would have booked to do a longer excursion somewhere.

Staff were very accomodating and helpful but sometimes I missed the friendliness that you get with smaller hotels where they know you and will have a chat. It was all very formal and clinical, not that this was a problem as any information we required was dealt with promptly and the introduction when we arrived was very good. The lads also on the beach was very helpful.
