Reception staff have an uncaring attitude. Booked a 1 bedroom apartment for 3 adults. The 3rd bed was in living room but not a bed, it was the sofa! Not a full size bed for an adult. Also no window to open at all. Only the door which you cannot leave open all night. The bungalow was not cleaned on a daily basis. Sun loungers broken. The food was very poor, cold broccoli in with the salad. One night they were carving a lump of spam instead of a joint.

Clean and comfy bungalow and very spacious, maids do a great job, pools very clean and inviting. Only downfall was if you're in B block the pool is great but no pool bar so inconvenient to walk to next level for your drinks. Now the food, this was great cannot fault anything. Staff in restaurant did a great job keeping things running in a very busy restaurant. Would recommend to anyone without walking difficulties wanting a great cheap all inclusive holiday. Would definitely return. Many thanks.

Winter sun break - just spent a weeks break at Club Calta Dorada from 27th January. The complex is divided into 3 accommodation blocks which are accessible by ramps or multiple flights of steps. There are 3 pools; one really quiet area in block A (no facilities for drinks/food), the other 2 located with blocks B and C have a pool bar for refreshments.

Rooms are spacious and well cleaned/maintained. We had room C95; a 2 bed apartment. This had a double bed in one room and a bunk bed style configuration in the second room. Beds are really firm and were changed once during our stay. Towels were changed more frequently. Safe for hire in bedroom wardrobe. There was also a sofa in the lounge that could convert to a bed.
The lounge/kitchen area had the sofa bed and a single chair and TV. The kitchenette had 2 cooking rings, refrigerator and a microwave but no kettle or toaster (can be hired at reception). There was plenty of crockery and cutlery. There is no hair dryer with these apartments but you can hire one at reception.

The complex is not really suitable for anyone with walking difficulties, as you have to do quite a lot of walking to reach the different areas of the complex and negotiate multiple flights of steps and cross roads. The restaurant is a short walk down the road from the reception area and provides a reasonable variety of cold and hot food choices and a few different drinks - mostly catering for Brits on holiday. Not the place to experience any traditional Canarian fayre.

The All Inclusive finishes at breakfast on your last day and you have to return your wrist band by 12 noon or pay 30 euro. As we had a later flight they did provide us with a meal pass for a free lunch.

The complex is around 10-15 minutes from the airport and is in the direct flight path for planes leaving the resort. You don't need an alarm clock as the 7.30 leaving El Mattoral is a great wake up call everyday.

Wifi Internet available in the reception area, with a free code from reception. TV available in the rooms for a fee. No aircon or heaters in the room and it did get cold at night, so make sure you take a cardigan or sweatshirt.

Overall not a bad location for a weeks winter break, for a bit of sun (warm enough to sit out on your terrace or by the pool, but a little to cold to go for a swim.

Club Caleta Dorada is a fantastic hotel. Considering the mixed reviews I read before going there, actually the hotel is very good. My bungalow was in block A. The bungalow was basic, but clean and comfortable. The only negative was trying to find my bungalow in the dark at night. I dragged my suitcase around in circles several times trying to find my bungalow. The bungalows are spread out all over the place. Perhaps management can have a staff member show clients to their bungalow. This will save a lot of frustration, and in addition, the first impression is lasting.

Was disappointed that there was only 1 bar open in our block. The pool area was quiet but had to walk 7 minutes to get to the main pool where the entertainment was and the only bar you could go for all inclusive. It was noisy so couldn't relax but enjoyed the bungalows, they were quiet.

Since our last holiday to Club Caleta Dorada, management have improved a number of things, i.e. they have opened a new bar area beside the pool bar and this allows adults to go and have a drink and a chat rather than listening to the animation show. Also the food is much warmer than on previous visits and they are more varied. The apartments are now in need of a sprucing up as they are now becoming slightly dated. Finally the staff as per usual are 1st class as nothing seems to be a bother to them and that is from The Manager downwards. There are further adjustments in the pipeline but like everything else, it takes time. Will be back.

Only the main pool had a bar service, too small for the amount of people staying there. You would have to get up at 6am to get sunbeds. Can't complain about the food pretty good but very busy due to the amount of people staying at the hotel. Sheets only changed after 10 days, rooms are very basic, the staff are great very happy people but over worked some are there all day from 7am - 11.30pm. Would not stay again, prefer self catering so you are not having a holiday based around their eating times, much better and works out cheaper to eat out.

For a 3 star hotel the hotel was great, what can I say spending £2700 for 5 of us for 2 weeks all inclusive is a bargain so didn't expect much, but the villa was tidy and clean if a bit dated. We stayed in C block next to the main pool and bar which was the best block to stay in, the resort has 3 pools in total which kept our kids entertained for the duration of our stay. Evening entertainment is the same as other places we have stayed, half hour mini disco then hour long adult entertainment at 9.30. Always found food to eat in restaurant and always lots of choice. This hotel is great for families.

Generally had a good holiday, food was good, badly in need of air conditioning as rooms very hot on a night. Also we ordered a 2 bedroom bungalow and ended up with 2 separate 1 bedroom bungalows which was ok with us but if small children, parents would end up split up, otherwise was clean and tidy and a nice place.

We had a wonderful time, it was clean, close to the airport so not much messing around with travel etc. We were a party of 11 with children from 2-10. They had a wonderful time in the pool and the slides, the entertainment staff work so hard during the day right through to the mini disco. I would like to have had a more varied programme of entertainment on a night, but as we were in a group it didn't matter as we were to busy talking and laughing. The staff work so hard, great choice of food, not masses of queues given it was peak season so all in all we were very happy with what we got especially given the price we paid as this meant we were able to go out a few times for meals and nights out. One place I would highly recommend is Fados Rock steak house it was amazing! The beach is only a short walk however you do need to walk down hill to get to it from the hotel which again is fine but getting back up was a bit of a killer with a pushchair weighed down with beach bags but I was grateful of the exercise given the amount of food and alcohol consumed.

Run down bungalows, needs some tlc to surrounding parts of the hotel as untidy, not enough sun loungers and lots of broken ones, pool bar needs a better system for lunchtime as very busy. Food was basic but edible. However, staff were extremely helpful, friendly and the children's pool area was spot on. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel, for what I paid I would return, lots of improvements to be made cosmetically but the staff made up for this.

The food could do with being a little more varied. The only bar open at night on the complex was always very busy and very long queues. The pool bar near the restaurant would have been better opening later so more adults could have a quiet drink instead of the having to go to the busy and loud bar near the water slides.

Nice room but stank of cigarettes. Food not bad. Entertainment not that good and very cold due to being in open air at windy end. Short walk to reasonable town and good selection of decent food joints. High charges for safe box and Wi-fi. Even charge to weigh suit case and print boarding passes. Don't use local car hire as it's cheaper to go to hertz office in centre of town. Island very barren but lovely sand dunes on North east coast road. Also you have to pay for the telly.

We booked this hotel as cheep and cheerful January getaway unfortunately the weather wasn't the best but we made the most of it, we thoroughly enjoyed our whole 3 week stay.

The food was more than adequate for what you pay, we were never at a loss at what to eat. Its a bit tired in places but staff and management are on the ball keeping it clean and tidy, with maid service every other day.

The pools are very cold so not many people used them but all the hotels were the same. Good location with views towards the harbour just a few minutes walk into town. Staff are excellent.

Room was well equipped but no kettle which you had to hire from the reception. The room was cleaned every other day and cleaners did a good job.

We went all inclusive and the food was a bit hit and miss and even though it was January and not overly full there was long queues and you were unable to find a table at times.

Staff on the whole were friendly though one member of staff made us feel as if we were an interruption as she was on the phone.

Entertainment is laid on though was some what repetitive.

We also hired room TV, this was also a hit or miss with channels disappearing or unable to access any channels. We managed to get a partial refund.

Location was ok and if fit enough an easy walk to the town however the resort is very hilly so not really suitable for people with mobility problems.

We stayed in `C` block and our apartment was ok although in need of some tlc-there was no door handle on the inside of the kids room and the handle was upside down on the bathroom door! It was however clean which is always our first priority. Maid service and towel change was every other day and the bedding was changed once in the 2 weeks we were there. Facilities in the room were good for us as we were all inclusive but fairly limited if you wanted to self cater-there was a fridge, a 2 burner hob and a microwave. We were very close to the main pool and entertainment which was handy. The pool areas were kept pretty clean and although some people were moaning about the water my little boy who has very sensitive skin had no ill effects from it. There are plenty of bins around to dispose of plastic cups etc although a lot of people seem incapable of using them! There was a good selection of drinks at the bar but limited to 2 drinks per person which can be a bit of a pain when you're with your kids but fairly standard practice. Snacks available all day are ham and cheese toasties, chips, tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches and hot dogs. Sun loungers are reserved very early so if you want one be prepared for an early rise! We did see the lifeguard removing towels from loungers which had been reserved and not used for hours. Entertainment was pretty rubbish with bingo and karaoke being the main events most nights. There is a mini disco for about half an hour which my 7 year old really enjoyed. There are 2 other pools, one with a bar (much warmer) and one without but we didn't use these much so can't really comment. Food we thought was good. Breakfast was everything from cereals, fruit, toast, fresh bread to sausage, bacon and eggs to freshly made omelettes and pancakes. If you can't find something to eat there then there's no hope! Lunch and dinner were pretty much meat, fish, pasta, salad, veg, chips, cake, fruit and ice cream. We had 4 vegetarians in our party (3 of them kids) and they were very rarely stuck for something to eat and when they were I'd say it was more their problem than the hotels! Packed lunches are available to order if you're heading out for the day, again we didn't use them so can't comment on what they're like. We went to the Mediterranean restaurant twice and would not recommend it! The first time was the opening night for this season and everything was a bit slow but that was ok-we don't eat out or go on holiday to rush so not a problem although it appeared to be for some families who just walked out! The second week was worse with people getting their starters after their main course (and that's the ones who got fed at all!) We hadn't had our order taken after 3/4 of an hour and the waiter was very stressed. We were told it was not possible to get food so we went off down to the normal restaurant! Having paid for 14 days all inclusive I was not happy to find out that they wanted our wristbands back at 12 on the day of departure although we weren't being picked up until 5.40p.m. as we didn't arrive til 9p.m on the first day that meant that we should have had breakfast and lunch on the last day. We didn't hand ours in as we sent my husband down to check out but the receptionist gave him a right telling off! A lot of people were moaning about this and I think for what it would cost them it would be worth it for the good will. All in all we weren't too disappointed for what we'd paid but we wouldn't rush back here.

Lovely little bungalows. Very clean and well equipped. Safe in the room for 20 Euros per week. Also 20 for English TV. No kettle in the room but heard we could hire one for 10 Euros. We used a pan, but it seemed a bit mean to equip the place so well and leave the kettle out. Full sized fridge though. The whole place needs some tlc. Looks a bit uncared for. Staff in the restaurant were brilliant and worked very hard, but food was often lukewarm or cold. The only place to get a drink in the evenings was the bar at the family pool, where all the children's entertainment etc was. Hence it was overcrowded and long queues for the bar. Atmosphere a bit like Butlins really and not for us. Would've been nice if the other pool bar could've stayed open in the evening and provided a quiet bar for people without children. Pool near the restaurant was lovely (the only other one with a bar), but a lot of the sun loungers needed replacing and were very uncomfortable. Location great, 5 minutes walk into town. There seemed to be a lot of facilities that were no longer used (Kids Club, Mediterranean Restaurant, Chinese Restaurant) which was a shame. A cheap break so didn't mind that we had to go out and pay for drinks every night, but the place could be so much better.
