Where would you go if you won the lottery?

If you were to win the lottery, what would be the first thing you'd do when you claimed your winnings? Would it be buying a holiday, a house, a car or something else? Well, here at sunshine.co.uk, we wanted to find out where the dream destinations would be for Britons if they were to win big.
We polled a sample of 1,672 British adults and asked them a series of questions to find out how they'd spend their lottery winnings. Are you curious to know the results? Well, read on...
When asked what they'd buy before anything else in the event of a lottery win, the overwhelming majority, 78%, said it would be a holiday. Everyone taking part in the poll was asked to imagine a scenario in which they had won £500,000 or more on the lottery (we can all dream, can't we?) and were asked where in the world they would go on holiday before anywhere else.
If money were no object, it appears that The Maldives would be the destination of choice for Britons. According to our poll, the top 10 most desirable holiday destinations, in the event of a lottery win for Britons, were as follows:
1. The Maldives - 19%
2. Seychelles - 13.2%
3. St Lucia - 10.6%
4. Australia - 9%
5. Dubai - 8.8%
6. Hawaii - 8.2%
7. Thailand - 7%
8. Spain - 5%
9. Barbados - 3%
10. Mexico - 2.5%
We then asked what the respondents would splash out on in terms of the accommodation at their lottery-win holiday destination. 67% said they'd pick a 5* luxury hotel, whilst 24% said that they would rather pick a luxury private villa.
