What are your priorities when on holiday?

We all have different priorities when it comes to going away on holiday, whether it's relaxing, having a gadget detox or seeing parts of the world we've not been to before.
Due to the fact that everyone goes on holiday for different reasons, we wanted to find out more about people's priorities when on holiday. We polled 2,362 UK adults who had been on holiday abroad in the past 12 months and asked them a series of questions about what was most important to them about going away on holiday.
When asked the question 'What was your top priority when on your last holiday abroad?' and told they could select answers from a list, or submit their own if their priority didn't appear, the top 5 most popular answers were as follows:
1. To get a tan - 41%
2. To relax/have a break from work - 22%
3. To spend quality time with friends/loved ones - 14%
4. Holiday flings/romances - 12%
5. To create good memories - 7%
Looks like people have their priorities all wrong in this case! We asked anyone that said their priority was 'to get a tan' whilst on holiday if they achieved a tan they were satisfied with on their last break. 61% said 'no' and that they would have liked to have been more tanned before going home. There's nothing wrong with faking a tan guys and it's much, much safer.
More than one in ten, 12%, admitted to regretting the amount of time they spent on holiday trying to get a tan and a third, 34%, said they didn't actually find the process of getting a tan 'enjoyable'. Even though lying about on a sun longer catching some rays can be relaxing, it's not the best way to spend your time on holiday. It'd be a shame to get to the end of your break and regret how you'd spent your time, so make sure you spend time with your friends or family and get off of your sun lounger to explore from time to time!
