Scramble free flights on easyJet

The low-cost airline easyJet has confirmed it's to introduce paid-for allocated seating for all of its flights from November 2012.

Since April 2012 easyJet has been trialling allocated seating on selected flights, and research among the 800,000 passengers has shown that more than 70% believe allocated seating is better than the current system, providing a more improved boarding experience.

Carolyn McCall, chief executive of easyJet, said: "This is an example of easyJet trying to do all it can to make travel easy and affordable for our passengers. Our customers asked us to trial allocated seating and we are really pleased with the positive passenger feedback during the trial.

"Allocated seating gives all our passengers a better boarding experience and offers the choice of selecting a seat to those who want to."

The new system will allow passengers the option to choose from three bands of pricing; £12 for extra leg room (front row and exit rows), £8 for up front seats (row 2-5 or 2-6 depending on aircraft), and £3 for any other seat. Those preferring not to pay will be given a seat number when they check-in either on-line or at the airport.

Flexi Fare customers and easyJet plus! annual cardholders will be able to select a seat free of charge and continue to enjoy the benefits of Speedy Boarding.
