ATOL Certificate comes into force from 1st October 2012

Posted by Sue Anderson, 2nd Oct 2012

From 1st October 2012 new ATOL Certificates have come into force as proof that the holiday booked is financially protected by the ATOL scheme.

What does this mean for you?

The introduction of the ATOL certificate offers the consumer written confirmation of:

a. What is protected by the ATOL scheme
b. Who is covered
c. Who is providing the cover
d. The amount that is protected
e. What to do in the unlikely event that your travel company or one of the travel suppliers ceases trading.

What does the ATOL scheme protect?

Under the ATOL scheme holidaymakers are protected from losing their money, or being stranded abroad, should the travel company or one of the travel suppliers collapse.

All customers who book a flight with accommodation and/or car hire on the same day will be receiving the certificate for the 'Flight-Plus' trip.

Your certificate will be issued at the time of booking and provided to you in the members area.

Print-out your certificate and keep in a safe place.

Each certificate has a unique number and is proof that the holiday you have booked is protected by ATOL.

It is strongly recommended that you take your certificate on holiday with you, as it explains what protection you have and contains important contact information.
