Beaches

Attard is a traditional inland village, located in the centre of the island and has no beaches in the immediate area. The nearest beach is at St Julians Bay (8km) or you could head to the north of the island to the golden sands of Golden Bay (11km) or Mellieha Bay (19km).

Things to Do

The town's Latin motto 'Florigera Rosis Halo' (meaning, I perfume the air with my blossoms) gives you a clue that it boasts several flower gardens. You will definitely want to stroll around the shaded courtyards, ornamental ponds and botanic gardens of San Anton Palace Gardens.

Discover the 18th century Palazzo Parisio and Gardens at Naxxar (3.5km) and take afternoon tea amid the grandeur and opulence of this beautiful palace.

Just outside of Attard, you can visit the Aviation Museum and the Ta' Qali Craft Village, where many local artisans produce and sell handmade glass, pottery, lace, leather and jewelry items. The shops and workshops are housed in converted Nissen huts, at the site of a forsaken WW2 airfield.

Out and About

As one of 'The Three Villages' you can expect that Attard is steeped in history and you can spend hours strolling around the narrow streets, lined with light golden honey coloured buildings and potted trees and shrubs. There are small squares and arches, statues, monuments and elements of architectural and historic interest at every turn. The town is ideal to soak up authentic daily life and has local shops, non-tourist restaurants and essential services.

For a wider choice of shops, pop in to nearby Rabat (5km) or maybe spend an evening at a waterfront restaurant or wine bar in Valletta (9km). Rabat holds a market on Sundays and the street market at Cospicua (10km) is held on Tuesday mornings.

Nearby Attractions

Just 4km away, the bustling town of Mosta is a blend of modern living and historic chapels, surrounded by fertile valleys and home to the Mosta Dome. At 5.5km away, the ancient city of Rabat offers more historic places to visit including the Catacombs of St Paul and St Agatha, St Pauls Church and St Paul's Grotto.

The neighbouring medieval walled city of Mdina (5km from Attard) is in walking distance of Rabat and here you can admire the views over the island from Bastion Square and visit St Paul's Cathedral.
