Cheap Holidays to the Bahamas
Gorgeous sunshine, pink sandy beaches and where 5% of the the worlds coral can be found, what more could you wish for, in a tropical holiday to the Bahamas. With some of the world's best snorkelling, diving, golfing and bird watching, it is easy to see why so many people flock to the stunning Bahamas.
How Hot?
The Bahamas has a tropical climate, with little variance in its year-round weather. The winter months, October to April are an ideal time to visit the islands with daytime temperatures in the early-seventies. The summer months tend to get hot and muggy, and are also the wetter months with hurricane season running from the end of June through to the end of November. While hurricanes do not occur on a daily basis, when one does hit it may affect just one or a few of the islands while others have perfectly sunny weather.
While the likelihood of a direct hit is small, if travelling during hurricane season, we recommend you check your travel insurance policy before you leave, and shop around if necessary to make sure you have the necessary cover.
Out and About
The Bahamas conjure up a picture of beautiful islands with gorgeous beaches lapped by the twinkling azure blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. But did you realise there are 700 of them! The two main islands associated with tropical holidays are Grand Bahama Island and New Providence Island. Naturally there is an abundance of beaches and secluded coves, water-sports and water based activities but there are plenty of opportunities to discover sleepy villages, take historic tours and follow nature trails too.
Out for Lunch!
The Bahamas offers a variety of food from Sushi to Lasagne. Seafood is the staple of a Bahamian diet mixed with various spices. Crawfish, conch, land crabs and fish are amongst some of the favourite feasts for tourists to try out. Fish stew made with fish, spices, celery and onions is very popular. Desserts are very popular on the island serving coconut, pineapple tart and bread pudding. You must try all of these different specialities whilst on holiday here to get into the spirit of the island.
You can find a variety of eateries all over the island from your typical quiet restaurant, popular tourist restaurants, small cafes and bars right through to a luxurious 5 star all inclusive hotel serving stunning food.
