I have been to Argostoli many times as my family is from Kefalonia. It is a nice town, relatively clean with things to do. But due to the economic worries the whole of Greece is and has been going through for some years, it was also a shame that some of the night clubs are now closed, and that they have done nothing to fix the damaged Archeological Museum.

Great town. Besides hire cars or bikes there is a bus service to all parts of Kefalonia. There is a bus to a nice beach resort, Lassi, every hour on the hour and returning on the half hour.

The bus station also do a trip to Athens leaving from Argostoli in the mornings. The bus takes passengers to a ferry at one of two ports. Please be aware that the trip to Athens takes at least 7 hours each way. Trip to Fiscardo is also good, trip along road is ok if you do not suffer from vertigo. Kefalonia is very beautiful with friendly people.
