Horatio Nelson's fully restored dockyard makes for a great day out, as does the capital St John's with its lively market and duty-free shops. Or just lay back and let the world go by. Night life is quite low key, but some hotels provide evening entertainment for their guests.

There are 365 beaches and secluded coves surrounding the coast of Antigua, famous for their pink and white sands and clear calm waters. The abundance of colourful marine life, ship wrecks and coral reefs make the waters surrounding the island a snorkeling and diving hot spot.

Other popular water sports and activities include windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and deep sea fishing.

Things to Do

Nelson's Dockyard National Park, home to the historic English Harbour and restored Georgian dockyard, proves an ever popular tourist attraction. Here you can admire extensive views over the Bay from Shirley Heights, explore the remains of the fortifications and visit Clarence House.

Other popular attractions include the subterranean caves of Indian Town and Batty's Hope Sugar Plantation.

Go hiking and boating around the mangroves and zip-lining through the rainforests; sail around the coast and to nearby uninhabited islands and take a boat trip to the sister island of Barbuda.

Out and About

There are several shopping centres where you can find duty free goods and locally produced crafts. Browse the boutiques at Heritage Quay, the malls along the 'golden mile' at St Johns and stroll along the boardwalk to the shops and restaurants at Redcliffe Quay.

Nearby Attractions
