Beaches

The nearest beach to Brena Baja is Bajamar Beach (4km) which lies just to the south of the Marina at Santa Cruz de la Palma. This is a quiet, man-made beach, backed by cliffs and stretching for approx 700 metres. The fine black sands are approx 40 metres wide and there is nearly always plenty of space.

The more favoured beaches of Playa de los Concajos are also in easy reach (approx 6km) and have a more touristy atmosphere with the beach promenade and terrace cafes.

Things to Do

Visit the historic capital of Santa Cruz de la Palma, stroll through it's cobbled streets, the Plaza de Espana and the waterfront promenade. The capital has many homes and buildings dating back to the 16th century, typical Canarian architecture and wooden balconied buildings.

Spend some time at the Acropark. Set in the pine forests of Brena Alta, the park has circuits of rope walks and bridges through the trees, rope tunnels and zip wires. The circuits vary depending on age (or nerve!) and safety training is provided before you start your adventure.

Out and About

In the village of Mazo you can visit the Windmill Museum and the Red House. In the Red House you can see exquisite pieces of embroidery in the Embroidery Musuem as well as some of the items used in the Corpus Christi fiesta (crosses, archways etc) which are all made from flowers.

Nearby you can visit the archaeological site of the Belmaco Cave. Here you can learn of the legend of the Kings of Mazo, see the rock carvings in the main cave and follow the path to see the smaller caves. Entry fees to the cave are nominal and there is also a small museum and shop.

Nearby Attractions
