Overview

Amaya Kuda Rah is only a small resort, but it offers so much. It has two restaurants, one poolside bar by its gorgeous infinity pool, a water sports centre and a kids' club for any little ones in the party.

Location

The resort is located on its own little island in the South Ari Atoll, which is an area famous for its scuba diving and snorkelling opportunities. The island has stunning white sands and can be accessed by a 25-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport, Malé, followed by a quick 10-minute boat journey.

Facilities

There are two restaurants on the island, with one serving an international buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the other specialising in a variety of Asian cuisines, from Thai to Sri Lankan. There's also a chic pool bar for drinks and light bites throughout the day. If you fancy splashing out, you can order in-villa dining for a floating breakfast in your private pool, or book a unique dining experience, in a location of your choice on the island.

Around the island, there are loads of activities and facilities for you to make the most of. There's a large infinity pool, with sunbeds and parasols on the deck, a well-equipped fitness centre, a water sports centre and a kids' club for little ones. Why not try scuba diving or snorkelling with turtles and manta rays around the island, or go dolphin watching in the lagoon. There are also excursions you can book (extra charges apply), like island hopping or a sunset cruise.

Rooms

The resort has a selection of villas, located on the beach or over the water. Each villa comes with a private plunge pool, an outdoor sundeck with sunbeds, chairs and table, and a Jacuzzi bathtub indoors.

Other standard amenities in each villa include a satellite TV, Bose sound system, safe, mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, a Nespresso machine, iron and ironing board and a hairdryer.

Coming with the family? The Family Duplex villas are a great pick as they come with a load of extra space, as well as a king size bed and a double bed, two sound systems and cosy bathrobes for the whole crew.

Transfers to the Maldives are from Malé International Airport via either domestic aircraft (with a 25kg hold luggage allowance and 5kg hand luggage allowance), seaplane (with a 20kg hold luggage allowance and 5kg hand luggage allowance) or speedboat. You’ll be escorted to the departure point by airport staff, and your departure time will be confirmed the night before. Other flight arrivals or sudden changes in weather might mean you need to wait up to 3 hours before boarding the transfer.

If you’re travelling via seaplane, flights can only operate between 09:00 and 15:00. If you land in Malé after 15:00, or if there are any sudden weather changes, you’ll need to stay overnight in an airport hotel. Don’t worry – if this is the case then we’ll be in touch to make the arrangements. It’s also worth noting that, like most holiday transfers, seaplanes will stop at multiple resorts on the way.
