How Hot?

North Cyprus enjoys sunshine all year round, even in the winter months of December to February the average temperatures are 62.6ºF to 66.2ºF (17-19ºC).

Summer is a season of cloudless skies and high temperatures often reaching over 100ºF, a sea breeze in the coastal areas helps to keep things pleasant.

Out and About

North Cyprus is slowly catching up with southern Cyprus in terms of tourism and has some great hotels and restaurants on offer to it's visitors.

For those who are interested in heritage and architecture, a trip to Kyrenia should definitely be on the cards. There are many castles to be seen such as Buffavento castle, St Hilarion Castle, Byzantine Kantara Castle and the stunning 16th century Venetian Kyrenia Castle which is situated at the very top of the harbour and looks really beautiful when it is all lit up at night. Vouni Palace which was built in 600BC offers some important archaeological remains and some fantastic sea views.

The city of Nicosia is the only remaining divided capital city in the whole of Europe. There is so much to see here including many museums and the Ottoman mansion which is the only remaining urban architecture of Ottoman rule. Although the bazaar underwent extensive refurbishment in 2012 and is said to have lost much of the original character, it is still worth a visit. Come and explore the two different worlds of Nicosia for an interesting day out.

The walled city of Famagusta has it's fair share of historical attractions and has some really good beaches if it is a relaxing afternoon in the sun you are after. The resort is also quite lively at night time or you can choose to have a few quiet drinks in one of the local bars.

North Cyprus offers guests an oriental cuisine with a rich spicy flavour to it. There is a wide variety of fish, soups, pastry, kebabs and vegetables that all have a fantastic taste to them. Mezes are a great way of trying local dishes without having to order a full meal. You can choose a variety of starters and appetizers, which are set in the middle of the table for all to enjoy. Kebabs and Kleftico are very popular snacks to enjoy.

North Cyprus offers a large selection of high quality restaurants serving both local and International cuisine, something for everyone. Fish restaurants are very popular with both tourists and the locals. Most are situated around the harbour so you can watch the boats come in and out whilst enjoying a meal.
