How Hot?
Morocco is hot and sunny for most of the year, providing ideal temperatures suitable for all itineraries. If you're planning a beach holiday then the ideal time to visit is from May to October, for a desert safari November to April and to the Atlas Mountains April to October.
For a city break to Marrakech or Fes, then March to June and September to November are the best times to visit avoiding the uncomfortable heat of July and August; whereby the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Essaouira and Tangiers all benefit from a cool ocean breeze.
Out and About
Morocco is a country with a variety of sites to visit, whether you are into history, adventure or relaxation, you will find great beaches, fantastic water sport facilities and exotic excursions.
No trip to Morocco would be complete without a trip to one of Marrakech's lively souks. The souks are a maze of small shops that curl around the backstreets of main square Djemaa el Fna, where you will find an amazing array of goods such as rugs, crockery and spices so whatever you are looking for you will be sure to find it here and you will be expected to haggle on the price.
There are many buildings which are well worth seeing, such as the museums which are full of mosaics and marble and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca which is just huge, in fact it is the seventh largest in the world and offers some fantastic views over the sea.
Whilst it is nice to see the many beautiful buildings, it is also nice to escape the many hordes of tourists and head to Morocco's mighty High Atlas mountains. The mountains are home to terraced crops, snaking rivers and Berber villages, most of which can be explored by hiking, mountain biking or horse riding. Most people just visit for the day but it is possible to spend a few days trekking through rugged terrain and camping in rustic Berber tents.
Out for Lunch!
Moroccan cuisine is very refined and the country produces a large range of Mediterranean fruit. Some of the widely used meats include mutton, lamb, beef and camel. Seafood is also very popular. Couscous is a very popular dish known and eaten throughout the world as part of a meal.
Dining rooms in Morocco are usually well decorated with walls covered in Mosaics and woven carpets cover the floors. They are very elaborate. Depending on when you travel to Morocco will depend on how you eat.
During the season of Ramadan, Muslims fast during the day and eat at night. This is usually a thick soup known as Harira made with beans and lamb. Harira can be found in both the home and in cafes around the country. Snacks can be found by a wide range of street sellers including soup, shish kebabs and roasted chick peas.
