The Czech Republic is a year-round destination particularly to the Capital city of Prague, which is popular for hen/stag weekends and short stay city breaks. Average summer temperatures are 75-78ºF, with chilly nights, and in winter daytime temperatures hover around freezing, falling several degrees lower at night.

Czech Republic is a year round destination for city sightseeing. In addition, this beautiful country offers excellent skiing facilities in the winter and gorgeous countryside, spa towns and picturesque villages to explore in the warmer months.

The elegant streets and squares in the capital of Prague are a treasure trove of architectural gems and, indeed, you could spend an entire day just at Prague Castle, it's palaces, museums and gardens. Other sights and attractions include St Vitus Cathedral, the baroque style Troja Chateau and Vrtbokska Gardens, Prague Zoo, the Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge.

Just outside of the city, the gentle and romanticised countryside of Central Bohemia is the setting for medieval castles and within half and hour of Prague you can visit the riverside castle of Cesky Sternberk, the impressive Karlstejn Castle and the picturesque Krivoklat Castle.

The historic spa towns of Lasne Tousen in the Labe River Valley and Podebrady, set alongside the River Elbe, are also just 30-40 minutes from the centre of Prague. Enjoy walking in the flat countryside, mushroom picking in the woodlands, peaceful fishing and, of course, the most divine spa treatments.

Just over an hour from Prague, the lakes and woodlands surrounding Plzen are ideal for horse riding and, in the town itself, you can visit the magnificent Great Synagogue and admire its opulent interior. And of course, no visit to Plzen would be complete without partaking in a glass of Pilsner beer in it's home town.

During the winter, the Czech Republic boasts thousands of kilometres of cross country ski tracks and dozens of ski centres. Spindleruv Mlyn, in the Krkonose mountains, is just 2 hour drive from Prague and home to the largest ski centre and snow park, which is equipped to appeal to learners, free-stylers and snowboarders alike.

During the summer the Jizera Mountains are a playground for cyclists and hikers and Machs Lake is a great spot for fishing and water-sports. The region is within 2 hours of Prague and is best known for its production of the renowned Czech glass, so a visit to a glass works or glass museum is a must.

The cuisine in the Czech Republic is very meat based where the main meals usually consist of 2 or more courses. The first course is traditionally soup followed by a main meal then a dessert The desserts can be a compote or something sweet. Dumplings are very popular in Czech and are usually served with meals. Mushrooms can be found in a lot of the forests in Czech Republic, therefore are used quite a bit in cooking.

Many of the good restaurants in Czech Republic are small and fill up very quickly, so we recommend you reserve them early in your stay. Be prepared for others to join you in the cheaper restaurants, this is normal. You can eat in restaurants, cafes, cafe/bars and fast food places scattered around the area.
