How Hot?

The Costa Brava has a typical Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers enjoying up to 11 hours of sunshine; May and June have an average high of 77ºF (25ºC), July and August is 80ºF (27ºC) though can go higher, while September and October is 73ºF (23ºC).

Out and About

Known as the 'Wild Coast', the Costa Brava lies in the northeast region of Spain and is full of golden sandy beaches, authentic fishing villages and developed tourist resorts, making it a very popular holiday destination.

Costa Brava is high on family entertainment and offers a number of water parks which are great fun for all the family. The region also boasts the largest theme park in the Mediterranean as well as a great bird park and Marineland near Blanes. Lloret de Mar offers plenty of activities such as bowling, mini-golf and go-karting.
The clear Mediterranean waters and the rocky coves provide plenty of opportunities for a range of watersports from jet-skiing and windsurfing to snorkelling and scuba diving. If you really want to explore the region you can walk or hike through the many paths and trails or if you so desire you can explore on horseback. Golfing is another popular activity here and with the stunning scenery and excellent climate, it is the perfect activity.

The Costa Brava has numerous restaurants with just about every cuisine and style of restaurant you can think of, from the expected fast food joints to Michelin-starred restaurants, Chinese and Italian cuisines to authentic Spanish tapas. Plenty of seafood can be found on most menus' throughout the Costa Brava, with Palamo's prawns, sea urchin and lobster common options.

Popular items often found on a local menu include 'Pa amb tomaquet' which is a bread brushed with tomato and olive oil, 'alli oli' is a garlic and olive oil mayonnaise, 'escalivada' is basically a side-plate of grilled vegetables. 'Suquet' a fish stew, and paella May y Montana (which means sea and mountain) which is a mixture of both fish and meat such as chicken with crayfish (pollo con cigalas) or meatballs with cuttlefish (albondigas con sepia).
